Macs are too expensive or I'd have one (in addition to my PC). Although I was toying with getting one of those little "lunchbox" computers.

Wow. Guess I won't be using FFXIAH or Somepage (not that I really ever used the latter) like... ever again. I don't play FFXI on my PC, and I never log into POL stuff from it for this reason, but I *do* play LotR on it, and while I'm not sure if the thing will snatch my LotR data (or if this RMT company has anything to do w/ LotR, esp. since I'm on EU servers), I'd rather not take the risk, plzkthx.

FFXI Wiki onry from now on. Until it gets hacked, then I guess I'll just have to ask my LS, who never answers questions anyway.

Ninja'd edit: I also don't use IE, and I'm not sure I even have Real Player anymore, but if I do, it's about to get uninstalled and die.

Huzzah for Adblock then. I never even knew this place had ads, since I wildcard just about every ad URL that ever pops up.

It's had ads ever since the ffxi-wiki creator cashed out to wikia.com..

Wow that one seems like ages ago considering all the shady junk that's been going on since then.

I believe the ads are only for non-members.

Once you login, you will not get ads anymore. I remember ping/ako talking about this before.

That in itself is a good enough reason to get rid of it. Why leave it installed if you never use it?

It's like having an extra door to your house that you never use, never monitor, and could potentially have a broken lock, or perhaps even left unlocked long ago.

I still dont get the RMTers strategy. Arent they stealing from potential customers? That seems kinda...backwards.

Either way I wish they'd just leave FFXI. Perferably I hope that other MMO companies do the same that SE has done and squash them to this point. I doubt it'll be as popular then.

I actually was just thinking about this.. their strategy is seriously flawed for two big reasons:

1) They're not just stealing from their potential customers, they're kidnapping them and selling them into slavery.
2) With the current economic situation on many worlds so top-heavy (i.e. heavy end-gamers, crafters, and RMT hold most of the wealth), removing a modest percentage of these people say.. 5% of a world's population can create even more unbalance and make the economy even more unstable, which could cause players to abandon the game completely.

Either way, they're killing off their own audience.
