Question How does the gear system works?

How does the gear system works, I not understand too well.
Does gear be base off of stats or level? for example if I have a level 1 body armor that has 600 def will it be better then level four 200 def? if I play a warrior and have the best ax in the game has to offer but my ax skill is set to 1 will I still do good damage?

Re: How does the gear system works?

Erm where the F do you get 600def from?

You can only use weapons and gear that your job and level can use. You can;t use a lvl 45 axe with a lvl 1 war.

what equipment gives you 600Def at lvl 1? the max Def I have seen is around 60 and thats a lvl 75 piece only.

Are you sure your on the right game forum?

Jarre: It was a hypothetical question.

The armor with 600 Defense would be better. The levels on gear don't indicate how good they are (although higher level gear does tend to be better than lower level gear), it just indicates the minimum level before you can equip it. Some pieces of equipment are better than a lot of higher level pieces.

In short, no. Each point of skill you get adds 1 to your Attack and to your Accuracy with that weapon. It's always important to keep your weapon skills capped or very close to the cap.

I think you'll find he was exagerating stats to understand what is going on.

If the DEF is the only difference, then the higher DEF would be preferable.

On the off chance you actually hit something then yes you would probably do decent damage. However, you wouldn't be able to hit anything except the mobs right outside the gates of starting cities because your skill non-existent.

...mentioned that the provided character info was bogus. This just leaves me with "why" as a question. I suppose that it really doesn't matter to me. It was just something that piqued my curiosity....

Assuming you didn't actually buy a character, you have a looooong way to go before even thinking about relic armor.

If you did buy your character, then ya know, dieplz and rmt suck and cheaters and blah blah blah.
