Wow. I never thought I'd be one of those guys. You know... spammers...
Theres no real way to do this professionally, but I'm still very compelled to advertise for the sake of showing this big undertaking to a community I once loved belonging to. I would feel no ill will if the moderators tossed this in the trash as spam, and banned me on the spot. If they do, I'm sorry in advance.
Now I know there is already a Wikia and Wikipedia for Final Fantasy XI. I also realize that there was a fair amount of drama revolving around it. I know nothing I can do in a short amount of time can compete with the vast amount of information spread within the FFXIclopedia.
However, after doing some investigating, I have yet to find a Wikipedia that actually caters to one of the most important aspects about gaming. Clans and Guilds.
So, to that purpose, me and a couple of co-workers, under the sponsorship of the
Total Gaming Network, created a MediaWiki specifically for the sake of catering to Clans and Guilds! The target audience is for clans who have yet to officially make a website for their budding clans. This is so that they too have a chance to attract new followers, and have an official page to show their friends.
With that said, I now present to the good people of Vana'diel, the
EncyClanPedia!
Final Fantasy XI has it's
own special section for guilds in the category tree. It's neatly categorized making it easy for anybody in search of a guild on any particular server to find what they're looking for. All thats missing are the guilds!
Thats not all. We purposely made a
bundle of help files intent on helping anybody interested in contributing and making their own
Clan-Wiki!
We literally released it just yesterday, so it's still in it's incubation stages
(wikipedia wasn't built in a day). The site itself is purposely set up to look much like a traditional Wikipedia. Updates to beautify it are still underway from our crack team of code monkeys, but right now we're most concerned about attracting an larger audience to fill it with our target content. (Clans and Guilds).
Feel free to flame, or ignore this thread and let it become second page bait. I know what I'm doing is nothing more than spam. I'm just hoping that you guys would find it relevant, or at the very least, interesting.
