you know how like TOAU kinda helped people find alternate and easier zones to fight easier mobs and net faster exp? ya that would be pretty interesting alternate option for a different place to party for that level range. I just would find it ironic if they use the same Dunes during the past- time period version of Vana-Diel as the general camping spots for lv. 10-18/20. Well it wouldn't guarantee that the new Dunes (well past Dunes), will reduce the amount of K.O.s, but it would probably make those levels more smoothly before people move to Quifim, or perhaps past-Quifim. but ya, I'm guessing all the past versions of each zone will be treated much the same. but hey I wonder how different it would be leveling a lv.1 Job to lv.10 in Past-SGustaberg compared to Present-SGustaberg? |

Why? It's not like the current Dunes are hard; they just have a somewhat unforgiving way of teaching you how blood aggro works. :D But considering how cheap it is to set home point at outposts and how low level you can teleport there now, the main problem is just that people refuse to take their deaths, get up and go on. Death at low levels loses you very little exp; sitting around for 45 minutes waiting for a raise (or a raise 3!) loses you a lot of exp and the respect of other players. The Dunes probably *will* be different - all of Vollbow looked different before the destruction of Tavnazia - but there's no particular reason for them to be easier. Dumbing down the game and giving more exp for easier mobs is a mistake SE needs to reverse, not repeat.

oh okay! ya sorry, but maybe they can add a Nomad Moogle in Past-Selbina, at least. that place could really use a Nomad Moogle, just like Kahzam makes things more comfortable for campers out there. and like Jeuno is connected to Quifim, and stuff, you know? but ya by easier I didn't mean like make the mobs like 400 HP pushovers or anything like that. XD

I doubt any of the areas will be easier in the past. During the Crystal War, the beastmen were constant threats, unlike now during the age of adventurers where they are "laying low" while waiting for the resurrection of the Shadow Lord. Once that happens they plan to "retry" taking over Vana'diel. Besides, the "WAR" part of Crystal War should give it away: things aren't ganna be easy. Also, the "lowbie zones" will not be so in the past; beastmen will supposedly be raiding the area constantly. ... *shrug*

No. Expansions are for keeping players entertained. The people that need new content are high level players, not low level players. Besides that, there ARE dunes alternatives that have been added in expansions, and NOBODY USES THEM. Why would SE try to replace an area that PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO LEAVE?

okkay okay I misused the word "easier", but anyways ya this is a good sign for high-level players that the challenges in WoG will be fierce and intense and call of more unity and alliances and struggles that'll send sparks flying so brightly that all of Vana'Diel could see how incredible that War really is! |

I remember reading in one of the interviews that WotG was going to be more focused on the endgame side of things. That's not to say they won't add any lower level areas and what not, but I'm not expecting any level capped BCs like CoP and such. I would think what are now beginner zones would be more high level zones in the past. Certainly you wouldn't defend the Federation of Windust with Level 1 wars in taru RSE would you? There are plenty of other, better leveling spots than the dunes, but the dunes is just the easiest place for everyone to gather as it's about equal distance from all 3 nations. And there is nothing wrong with the zone itself, just a lack of people leveling that you're hard pressed to get together a decent party. This results in those lovely whm whm whm whm pld drk parties with the PL. Add to the fact that so many people have bad memories of the place that like myself will self-PL themselves or bring a friend to PL them. So you lose out on a lot of the expiernced players (or players that can afford decent gear) to join those parties. If you're having a hard time leveling through the dunes, I'd recommend looking to form a static with a friend. Duoing or Trioing through those levels can be quiet effective. A friend of mine and I can level a job from 10 to 37ish in an afternoon or two and you'll be splitting beastman seals with fewer people, resulting in more monies for you. |

I was thinking the same thing about the lvl changes for the dunes and such. But if the Past is not a easy thing to be able to go to like it is to Whitetgate, all of the noobs would be in the present while the others in the past dunes. Thus.. well, i'm sure you see my point. Beginners need people who know what they're doing around.

The Dunes as a zone is already "easy" enough. That's why practically everyone congregated there in the past for the majority of levels 10 to 20. What made the Dunes difficult was (and still is) the people, not the zone. How would adding a new WotG zone change that? Unless they release a zone where you can play solo and get auto-exp for just sitting there, it won't.

ya um half a dozen people made that clear already, thanks. ^_^; *sweatdrop* I now realize WoG zones are best served for end game purposes and stuff so 75's feel like level 1 all over again. |

The difference I'm seeing is that they stated this expansion will add more endgame content geared towards endgame players. But that doesn't ALL the content will be. However with CoP there were level caps for missions at 30, 40, 50, 60, and uncapped. They also added zones for a lot of those levels. Since the population of 75s is growing, I think they'd address the issues of overcamping. But I'm sure there will be lower level areas too. (I'd really hate to have to sneak/invis in every new zone in the game, Give us some too weak mobs to feel superior too) WotG I'm sure will 'serve' the entire community, not ostricize one part of it from the rest. They just might add more to one end than the other. | |

yeah you're right. sneak/invisi does become a pain, especially for 75s, it becomes embarassing. as for towns, I wonder if all 4 towns will be available in the Past. hmm I heard Atomos is used to access the Past, but I thought Atomos was gonna be the final boss to this expansion, or at least a NM at some point. but I wonder where this time travel feature is used to access the new zones, or maybe it's like Chrono Trigger/Cross except you have an item or something that lets you warp there. hm the time travel system would definitely branch out into multiple spots located in the specific past time zones, not sure if they'll link the Past-crags into this equation. but back to cities/towns, not sure if they'll even be accessible probably, or maybe theyare but they probably don't have mog houses or homepoints or something. otherwise if people can hang out in the past, it might replace the modern-towns people visit. oh ya and the NPCs in each town would be totally different and layed out differently too. That sure is puzzling how different it will all feel. |

Feba, where exactly are all these "expansion Dunes alternatives" that everyone's supposedly overlooking? Unless you're counting Korroloka worms and bat triplets, which do get used and abused on Midgard at least, in a zone that isn't quite "expansion" by NA standards anyway. Anyway, given the nature of the time period being visited, I would be greatly surprised if we didn't get zones at least as dangerous as ToAU zones exclusively. It's a warzone, for crying out loud -- literally! Of course you need Sneak/Invis or to travel in an alliance to feel safe. This is not the expansion in which to put viable alternative late 30s/early 40s camps ("viable" as in "doesn't require going through three dungeon crawls with strict job requirements to gain access to"), as much as we may need them. The "low-level content" will likely be nothing but job quests, early cutscene missions, and pure running-around-town quests; the XP camps will likely all be 60+, and will attempt (successfully or not) to be friendly to SC+MB parties over all other styles. Those are my guesses, anyway. -- Pteryx |
