Umm... wow... let's see.

From what I understand, re-installing the game has NOTHING to do with your character. Your account information is saved on the game's servers. The only think you would lose is your macros, but you can jus remake them or move the files (if you know how).

Go ahead and buy the game with the 3 expansions included. You won't lose yoru character.

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

No. Each of those keys is tied to your POL account. So the only way you would need to buy them again (and really, since you have the discs you can just purchase new key codes for much less on the viewer) is if your account ever expired or you canceled it for whatever reason.

Once you have an active Play Online (Henceforth referred to as POL) account and everything is installed (though you can technically do this all before installing the game and expansions) launch the viewer and go to games -> FFXI.

Then, go to Content ID. This is where you register each key for the game and it's expansions, as well as purchase IDs for each character you would like to create. You have to register each expansion in order to unlock it's content in-game.

For instance, if you have Treasues of Aht Urhgan installed but not registered, you will not be able to go to Al Zahbi or play as a COR PUP or BLU. You can play with other people who are these jobs, but you won't be able to try them out yourself until you register the expansion.

Hope this was helpful ^^b

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

since you bought the starter disk, it already contains all the current expansions. install POL, FFXI and all three expansions from the disk. Later on, the only thing you will need to do if you decide to continue playing is purchase keys to activation the expansions from the POL site.

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

it doesnt say it has the 3 expansions on the box though, the other box's ive seen say it has all 3 of them in it, and this 1 just says FFXI starter set, nothing about the expansions on it. i should of just got the tiny bit more expensive game which said it had all 3 of the expansions in then i wouldnt have to worry about anything. Plus i dont get the buy the codes on the pol website, if you buy the codes were are you downloading the expansions from because it says this is not downloading the expansion or somthing like that.

all conused !!

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

if this is the little envelope that says FFXI "Starter Pack Game Disc" for ~$3.99, then yes it does contain all the expansions (just no keys for them). I bought it to verify and have installed from it.

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

no its in a box. it says on the box : Final fantasy XI online starter pack..thats it, nothing about expansions, buy i will take your word for it. even though it would be cheaper to buy the game with all 3 expansion packs than buy each code seperate, but i guess it will do lol.

thanks for your help

Re: i have FF starter set, but...

ah, i think that's just the EU verison. Should be the same and thus contain all the expansions as well. have you not popped it in your dvd drive yet? you can see the menu that pops up lets you install all the expansions
