My Mood: | Why do you love FFXIO?
Or to be more blunt, what keeps you coming back? In short, you can look at the people on my sig. For better or worst, they contribute to the community and make things interesting in one way or another. I like the interface. I REALLY wish that KI had a "subscription" type system the way FFXIO does. I don't want to wade through 5 pages of shyt everytime I come back. I also like how everything is organized nicely and the Mods actually actively contribute to the community and listen to us. Oh, and how Ping spoils us by giving us features. Also, I like how everyone, more or less, tolerates my noob questions on the PLD forum and actually listens to what I have to say on the RDM forum. ._. I definitely don't need to go to any other FFXI forum to get anything I need because it's all here. And if it's not, someone else will bring it here or link us directly to it so that we avoid the bs of other forums.

i have only played on my friends account, but i really like the way most classes cant solo all the way through the game. like other MMO you can solo like wow, you can solo all the way to max lvl, and only party for raids and dungeons etc, but in FFXI you need partys all the time to lvl. this way you will make tuns of friends and if you are good at your job you wil get added to friends and be pmed to get in another party. Also i like the way your chocobos can run away from you, i know it must get annoying but in other MMO's you just click the mount and poof its there infront of you. im one of those people who get annoyed with things like that, because how can you possibly keep a mount in your bag !!!! another thing is i actually do like the gfx, it gives me a good feeling about it and i know im playing final fantasy, they just make the game feel right, ive spoke to people by email and they hate the gfx etc, but well they cant be that much of a FF fan if they dont want to play the game just because of the gfx. anyways i dont know much more i could add because i dont no that much about the game also i have not played much of it ![]() if anybody dissagrees with me i would like to hear and get into a conversation about it to discuss it further. |

The partying aspect gets annoying, because while all jobs require parties to level up, it's generally harder for melee to get invited as opposed to mages. So there are alot of complaints in terms of people looking for group (lfg) in excess of multiple hours. But I should have clarified, I'm asking what people love in particular about this forum, not the game, lol!

Skoal is just mad because I already have a DRG in my sig, so I need something new to come up with for him.

I like it cause of how people answer questions usually pretty nicely. Some people on here can be pretty rude, but usually it's funny to read it and I just laugh. >_>; But they aren't usually being rude to me. Also I joined this forum years ago before even starting XI, and I was able to learn so much before playing, it really helped me. I didn't feel like a huge idiot once I started playing, and as I played people on here helped me out a lot, whether they intended to or not, because I read just about every new topic or topic in job forums I'm interested in. This site is just cool. And so are the people. :D

| Re: Why do you love FFXIO?
There are a few reasons why I keep coming back to FFXIO (even when I'm not playing the damn game): - The size of the community is just right. There are enough people to have a good discussion about a numerous topics, but not so many that every post is a new name that I've never seen before. At Allakhazam, I rarely knew more than one or two of the people replying to any given topic. - I like the system Ping uses. The boards are similar to the PA boards (where I also spend a fair amount of time), and not having to learn another system is nice. There is just enough customization to make things our own, but not so much that the functions aren't easy to pick up. Also, things move swiftly. I was never able to spend more than a couple of minutes at KI, because I couldn't bear how slow everything was (they may have changed that, but it's a bit late at this point). - I can hide signatures, avatars, and posted images if I want to. Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes a cool looking sig, and that almost always conflicts with my ideas of what constitutes a cool looking sig. So I like being able to just turn them off and read the content of the posts themselves, instead of being distracted or annoyed by the images below them. - The majority of the posters here are able to answer questions reasonably, without taking themselves too seriously, and without getting up in arms when someone else questions something they have posted. There are a few folks who could probably stand to loosen up a bit, but for the most part, everyone is easy going. Some people get a bit too caustic at times, but not enough so that it makes the forums an unpleasant place to be. - There is no rating system. I know that the folks at Alla go on and on about how it's a user moderated system, and thus, at least in theory, better than one that is moderator moderated, but the reality is that systems of that sort are easily abused, and lead to a lot of nonsense over nothing, all of which could be easily avoided by eliminating the system in the first place. I mean, we have Thanks, but it's not as though anyone says "Oh, that guy has a lot of thanks, he must know a lot." or "Um, you can't disagree with me, I have over 100 thanks." Because those people would be assholes. I'm sure there is more, but that's all I could think of right now.

But, yeah, that's another thing I like about this site: if anybody dares to try and ruin it for the rest of us, the problem is usually handled quickly and effeciently. We're all smart people, in one way or another, and don't tolerate any crap, which is why we don't have any here. EDIT: Oh, and the intelligent and provocative discussions. I love me some intelligent and provocative discussions! And the sense of humor, too!

First off, I came here to excape the Alla drama. What kept me coming back? Plain and simple, the people. There is no other way to say it, I came back for all of our regulars who are informative, confrontational (when it's necessary), hilarious, and just generally the best FFXI community out there. I love that we mostly avoid drama here, and when we do have drama, we can't do it without the lulz attached. I love that we have our own inside jokes, and I love that we can post a huge pet peeve thread and an accomplishment thread in the same place without them clashing horribly. I love that my accomplishments are /cheered by everyone, and that I am encouraged to be the best player I can be. We're not competitive. Every time I post in that accomplishment thread, it's because I'm proud of what I've done and I know that all of you will share that with me. These are some reasons I keep coming back. Oh, and the lolcats.
