I'm fairly new to the entire FFXI scene. Mid-August I decided to look for an alternative to WoW. After watching the GT Retrospective chapter on FFXI it was clear that this was the MMO to go. Anyway, I visited multiple forums (KI, BG, Alla, etc), but this is the only one that kept me coming back for more. Why? - Great web design. It is easy to navigate and very responsive (no lag). - Posts made by new players were welcomed and answered instead of laughed at. New-player friendly community. - Enough drama to be entertaining but not annoying. - But must of all the knowledge in these pages. Subjects like "Vana'diel World War" and "Test: Double Attack during WS" shows the wealth of knowledge of game history and game mechanics in here. Also the posts in the RNG sub-forums are amazing. I was @ BG last night and saw a thread some guy made. His ls was new to the HNM scene and had wiped to Fafnir and he was looking for some advice, it was a perfectly logical question. It took about 9 respones of things like have the pld provoke from behind, make a thf sata it, die in a fire, make sure to keep DoTs on him, and other asshole replies like that before anyone helped him. It's nice to not have to deal with that shit here.

So we ALL started off as noobs and newbs at one point. The thing though is instead of clowning each other we helped. That carried over to the newer players. Sure theres a lil drama every now and then. Where theres humans, there'll be drama. But the friendliness and the helpfulness stayed.

I've been lurking here for Altana knows how long, and pretty much what everyone has already said is why come here on a regular basis. And it doesn't take three minutes for a page to load.  |
