This is a new source site I would suggest to anyone. Well, perhaps not yet, as it's less than 12 hours old and mostly empty as a new wiki will be.

What I really wanted to share is a project I'm personally spearheading on. The History page:

It is also very far from being complete, but contains information I bet many players have no idea about. This is because it's never been released in English. Elmerthepointy has translated information only available to the Japanese and released it to me. You could say this page already contains more history than the website sticked in this forum and 100% less spoilers. I hope new players will use this portion of the site as resource so that the game's plot isn't ruined for them.

The History page is part of the larger "Lore" category which will have a lot of juicy, non-spoiler information you probably can't find anywhere else.

Way to keep that idea that the Japanese are better and know more about the game alive. It's been 5 years, if there really are things that the Japanese players know that no one else does North American players really do suck ass and the Japanese players are better.

What little content there is is end game. This announcement is nothing more then saying a website is available. There is next to no content, it would be as useful as putting an old 'Under Construction' site up.

In the Pre-history part:

in the Age of Adventurers part:

Extra words, simple typo

In the Age of Judgement part:

civilization falls to ruin to the battle between Odin and Alexander

This just reads funny, try "falls into ruin from" instead

The Quadav invade present day Derfland, capturing Passhow Marshlands.
The Quadav begin construction of Beadeaux.

They didn't capture Pashhow persay, it was never inhabited. They captured and abandoned Rolannberry i.e. "the fertile soil he had conquered" and chose to live in the empty swamps of Pashhow (which was spelt wrong btw)

The Marquis of Tavnasia, Arefeauron, dies.

So far it seems interesting, but other then some specific dates and names there's nothing really new yet. I'm hoping this goes more indepth and reads like the actual story it is more then it's current simple textbook form. It'll be an interesting read once it's done though.

Also, I wouldn't say this contains more history then the stickied History of Vana D'iel site just yet, as you still have a long way to go to accomplish that. Spoilers or not, that site does provide a lot of actual history taken from external texts and stories about Vana D'iel, much like you're intending to do.

He's not saying that at all. But it is a fact that far more indepth guides and accounts of FFXI's in game history have been published in Japan that never made it over here. I eagerly await the information that no one else has bothered to share with the masses to date myself as FFXI's story telling is one of it's strongest aspects.

Actually, that's exactly what it is. And seeing as it's a Wiki, you yourself are welcome to help 'construct' the information on the site and help all of your fellow FFXI players. Regardless of the why and how this site started up, it's here no so why not try to make it successful. There's nothing wrong with having multiple wikis, especially if they each have their own unique focus on the information they share.

Supposedly someone has been working on this for some time. It does not take that long to set up the system and application so what took so long?

BTW, I don't contribute to any wiki or the like about any game I play because I don't know enough to make any worth while contribution. I can however see when an 'announcement' of availability is nothing but a joke.

Too bad some of us won't be using FFXI Wiki anymore after the stunt they pulled with the donation campaign, just like some of us don't use Alla anymore since they're owned by RMT.

I'll personally wait until BG's Wiki is up to speed on everything before I make a judgment. Personally I hope they keep their promise to leave out the elitist endgame slant that their forums tend to have. Until then I'll use the many other resources and forums for my information (Mysterytour has always been good to me, even if it's partly in Japanese).

heaven forbid a DRG to sub anything other then /WAR or/SAM even though DRG could sub anything but BST or PUP and be a decent DD + support.
