How??!?!!? Every time I've taken Alexander on (0/8 now...) his physical defense is so damn beastly throughout the whole damn fight. We can never get him down to less than 70% (bastard spams Radial Sacrament and Gospel of the Lost every time)

My WS would never break 140 on him.

I can allways get him <50% wven with a crappy group who throught they knew what to do, they even aid "What hes immune to melee attacks" on the blu, i hate them so much!

If some party could stun more then his lovely hp move wouldn't be too much trouble for me. Tachi: Hobaku doesn;t seem to but it really, such a long time to get 100% compared to his ability to spam the skill like nuts.

I tried this for the first time last night and, oh boy, the BLU was a pain in the neck! We had a PLD, DRK, THF, SMN, BLM and WHM (me) and even with Noctoshield, Shining Ruby, Earthen Ward, Protect IV, Shell IV, PLD defensive abilities - you name it - this mob ate through the PLD with ease. Even with a Stunning order for Eyes on Me, some slipped through and peaked at 1024 damage (with Azure Lore) although some were lower. Even his weaponskills did significant damage at around 600 with Seraph Blade.

The first part of Alexander was a joke, very easy, but the second was a joke too, only in the opposite sense of the word - we wiped at 70%. The party scattered to avoid taking the full force of the AoEs, but this led to poor Curing. It became very difficult to run to someone to Cure them before they'd run away again out of range mid-cast. Our PLD also succumbed to the Terror move and dropped quite quickly.

Nether Blast proved effective against him, as did Blizzard IV, but other than that it was like chipping away at a boulder.

Looking forward to trying this again soon - I think we could have lasted much longer if it wasn't for running around like headless chickens - it wasn't as intense as the BLU.

Went 1/1 with RNG/SAM, WHM/SMN, BLM/???, PLD/WAR, BRD/WHM, BLU/THF (myself).

Knowing how to tackle the BLU helped, and with our mix of damage (Ranged, Magic, and Melee) he ended up not being immune to anything at the end. Though we thought he was going to be magic immune and I got the BLM killed by switching to my nuke gear and missing stuns. Once our BLM dropped we actually started attacking and realized that we could hurt him and brought him down fast.

Alexander was pretty straight-forward, I hung out behind him and spammed head butt and did whatever damage I could. Even if you draw hate, he can only attack behind himself with spells (and his 2hr maybe?). I felt kind of useless here since my sword attacks were doing about 0-10 damage and I had loaded up a mix of physical and magical spells to deal with the BLU and didn't have a chance to swap them out (until I died and had a chance while recovering). The PLD didn't seem to have a hard time surviving, though Alex's attacks inflict Defense down, so it's important to keep the tank erased. Alex also seems really hard to stun; not impossible. but my head butts were only stunning maybe 25% of the time.

But we won, and many thanks to Valentino, Partyboi, Vincenth, Suhu, and Bloodredpoet.

Unable to quote yet, but referring back to Kuro's post on page 2 about one of the rewards "enhancing Sharpshot", I've now been told on several occasions it's actually "enhances Snapshot". I've never heard of Snapshot - is this possibly a spelling mistake? Sharpshot makes much more logical sense.

The rings aren't crappy (they're not brilliant either, but they're not crappy). The refresh/Regen effects are just minor, it's the other stats that are good: +4 acc and +4 attack on a ring is good. This has now replaced my Sniper's Ring.

This isn't that hard.. just plan to wipe when you reach Alexander... we tried this a few times, and succeeded on our 3rd attempt once we established what to do.. party set-up was: 75smn, 75rdm, 75NIN, 75BLM, 75BLM, 75MNK

This is what we did, buff before 1st NM (forgot his name, but he re-raises 2 times, so you must defeat him 3 times total).... on his first "form" we simply had melee dish out the damage... he went down very fast... we did the same on his 2nd form... dish out the physical damage... now the key to beating his 3rd form easily (since he's now TOTALLY immune to physical dmg) is to use MAGIC!!! RDM sleep 2... BLM's timed AM II spell... as soon as those connected.. RDM Sleep 1 or II, rinse and repeat... he went down and we had 38 mins left on the clock (I started a timer).

Next up was the 2nd NM, we rested to full and engaged... he was a complete joke.. I used an avatar, BLM's used lvl III tier spells, and the melee did their thing... he gave up at 50% health... on to Alexander... we had 30 mins to defeat Alexander at this point.

Alexander... now what I told the party was to PLAN TO WIPE at least 1 time... but before we do... do AS MUCH UNHOLY DMG as we can possibly do... and that's exactly what we did. We rested to full, buffed and engaged. to start the fight I summoned Fenrir (although in retrospect I should have summoned Diabolos--Nether Blast PWNS Alexander)... anyway, the avatar took the hate, as soon as Alexander was engaged with Fenrir... the melee moved in behind it and began pummeling him. THe two blm's knew they'll go down quickly so they timed AM II's and we kept up the punishment til we wiped w/ the NM at 36% health...

We re-raised, rested to full with 15 mins left on the clock... again, I sent in the avatar, (Diabolos this time) and Nether Blast did over 500 dmg... BLM's used their two-hr move and started spamming -ga's and AM II"s and tier IV's... we got him down to 3% before we wiped again... we had 7 mins remaining...

I re-raised... rested to full, summoned Diabolos--the Ninja ran in and Mijin Gakure for a nice hefty 500+ dmg... which brough Alexander to 1% health.. I was using Nether Blast when a blm used drain for 18 hitpoints... next thing I know we're standing up and being tele'd out... We WON!!!!

It was a fun fight^.^ lots of flashy moves from Alexander being thrown our way but we survived and that's how we did it. Good luck!

Items that "enhance" an effect don't require you to have the ability before you equip it. If something "enhances arcana killer effect" or "enhances resist paralyze effect" you don't have to be a drk to get the effect. It'll just give you the ability.

The "enhances snapshot effect" ring should give a haste effect to the ranged attacks of anyone who wears it in assault.

I will die as many times as needed for the Jalzahn's Ring, that's almost like a Bellona's Ring, for crying out loud! Seeing as my chances of killing or much less getting to fight Absolute Virtue are slim to none, I'll take that ring for now.

As far as Snapshot goes, SE needs to give that to COR in merits at some point. I will grudgingly accept it as a bonus effect for doing Assault for now.
