lvl 8 Besieged woes..

So... I can't say how other servers fare in this, but since lvl 8 Besiged has been introduced, I would imagine Bismarck has lost the Astral Candy more than all the previous lvls combined. What is it with lvl 8 that makes it so much harder than lvl 7? Bismarck was on top of our game at lvl 7, the fights were fun, though sometimes long, but we rarely ever actually -lost-.

Now I know that unless the threat of losing is really a factor, things can become repetative or boring quickly. I am one who loves besidged and I do just about anything but break an PT or skip out on an event to make one. However now that lvl 8 is around, seems like 75% of the time we have some sort of weak sauce raid (lvl 4 and below are a waste of time- though I do attend. Things are over in like 10 minutes). This leaves lvl 5, 6, and 7 to be really fun and engaging.

What is lvl 8 like for other servers? I cant think of why this is so hard, and why we continually lose. Are there fewer people attending? I personally like the 400-500 range of attendance: helps out sooooo much with lag and congestion (700+ peeps is just horrid. You die before you even know what attacked you). Are there just -that- many more monsters that we cant keep up? Are they smarter than before? Ugh. One of the coolest events in the game has quickly turned out to be one of the most frustraing for me.

Re: lvl 8 Besieged woes..

Just out of curiosity, which forces does your server tend to lose to?

On Lakshmi, we've lost a grand total of 3 invasions at this point. Every time, without fail, it is to a level 8 Mamool Ja Besieged happening around 5 PM EST. Those stupid NIN type mobs that do Mijin can be a real killer, especially when there's less than 400 players participating.

I know the past few times its been Mammol (maybe undead too), though I have never been on when we lost it. We creamed the Trolls a few hours before the mamool came (I logged right after Trolls), only losing everyones favorite jackass General, Gadalar.

Re: lvl 8 Besieged woes..

The losses I know of are usually to the Mamool, runner up being the undead.
