i almost always have my comment up, unless im not actually doing anything/wanting anything then its just blank.

when im seeking (rarely) i always have my comment up, as i feel it is helpful to those leaders that actually look at them.

when im a leader looking for members, i look at all search comments and pick the best ones, if there are none, or no one that is able/wants to join, i look at people who dont have comments up last. thats just the way i do it though, if people want to use their comments or not is their way of doing it, but i prefer if people do use them, its easier to form a good party knowing what their tnl is and available subjobs and where they can/cannot go to exp. i could ask people directly those questions, but i find it wastes time, so i look at existing comments and form parties from those people that took the twelve seconds to make it easier for me.

Back before paladin became despised for exp parties, I had a thing in my seacom that said "Willing to party anywhere but Crawlers Nest". And it worked! Only had to go into that train hell once levels 30-40.

Last night, as I was running through Valkrum Dunes on the way to Selbina, I did a few searches:

• 34 players Lv.10-20
• 9 of those players had exp search comments
  • 8 search comments contained Japanese
  • 1 search comments was completely Auto-Translator speak; player had 'E' by name.

(I think that was before midnight PDT, so the population should be more than half non-JP.)

So, it's not so much that players aren't using search comments--it's the non-JP players who don't use them as often.

Yea, that was the main point I was trying to make with the original post. Just mainly that I'd like to see them more often. And when I do see them, it tends to be more with JP players than anything else.

So, it's not so much that players aren't using search comments--it's the non-JP players who don't use them as often.

I still find that surprising, I see alot of people using search comments, equally distriputed between Japanese and NA/Other players.

If anything I'd say it is the more popular jobs who don't put up search comments, I rarely see a warrior, ninja, or red mage with a search comment up, and of those it is normally a japanese player.

Just thinking of when I exp'd last night, 5/5 drgs had search comments, most in english, 3/4 rangers had search comments, 3/3 smn, I forget the rest but I'd say equally distriputed between search comments written in kanji that I don't understand and english/auto translator.

Of the popular jobs, I think it was 5/20 wars had a search comment, one in english, 2/17 rdm, 3/8 mnk, 1/7 nin, most of those were in japanese I think.

i'm a lvl 75 RDM and always have a /seacom up when ever needed when seeking mission etc

I always have a comment up, too, because 99% of the time I don't want to main heal.

I'll put up a /seacom as anything I think to do it on, mostly just when I put my flag up. I never think to say I will/won't do something, because if it needs doing, I'll do it. That tends to end up with me enfeebling on BLM or WHM when there's no RDM and any Ninja aren't taking care of that one, for instance...

And I say that as a BST who has been frustrated more than once to see a BST at the camp I wanted who not only is missing a search comment, but is also /anon!

To be fair the instructions you get with the game are usless and doesnt explain what things are, my instructions were the directional keys and a few emotes.
only since reading this Topic have I heard of seacom I've been playing nearly a year now

You cant really blame players for how they are 500,000 + players + mules all billed from 8.99 a month upwards, where does our money go? couldnt they give me at least 2 pages of instructions? or at least the reverse side in english?

anyway I'd like to start using /seacom as i mainly play bst and hate having to fill in my comment every time i log in.

allthough I NEVER go /anon i just think its plain rude for anybody to be anon.

could somebody point me in the direction of using /seacom hopefully a more detailed explanation of what it is and how to use it.

You have been playing for a year and never seen the search comment...... wow

if you go to the search option in your menu, then go all they way to the bottum, there is a button to add a search comment.

Just choose what you are sekking party for, and type in some note, like EXP TNL or what other jobs you can sub and where your HP is (so you can elave town and do other things while seeking)
