Completing the Complete FFXI Guide

On a previous account I was in the process of writing something I would call the best possible FFXI guide from beginners. For awhile I was too busy with either real life and even other stuff online.

The Complete FFXI Guide For New Players. (Must Read)

I'm currently in the process of helping a lot of new players, so I see motivation in starting up the project again, but I'd like it to be greater than I already intended. I know I meant to advertise to the best possible guide, I really want it to be now. I can not do this alone. I would likely need support from the site owner(s) and helpful people. I'd like this to be the one guide to end all other guides. If I were to encounter someone with a questionmark next to their name, I'd like to be able to give this player the link and never have to worry about him asking a question again until he asking how to get to the Shadow Lord. Not only a guide for new players, but a great resource for people trying to teach their friends how to play, either by using it as a checklist or quoting right out of it.

I'm not going to go into details, but I envision it with easy-to-understand pictures next to many of the more confusing directions, absolutely no spoilers, explanations for everything to level 30(including Rank 4, Garrison, and even the first missions of CoP), and an optional condensed version that should take 30 minutes to read and help players until level 10. Maybe even a special spot on the forums ;o.

I can go on with what I'm planning, but would be pointless if people are not interested at this point.

I would love to help. A good idea might be to make a private wiki so that we can work on it together.

Well it's important to note that it wouldn't be a wiki (there is a site for that already), but a single wiki page, I guess that could work... then again, you could just split the pages up... er okay then. But only for writing it.

I would assume you'd gather information from several people invested in each Job, otherwise if you went with only 1 per job, you might end up with a somewhat biased view of that job. A consensus of sort, for each Job, would seem to be the best overall to give the most balanced view. Just a thought.

I don't know, but most "bias" comes after level 40... Dragoon and for the most part Puppetmaster are both pretty good before then, and they are two jobs that face the most criticism.

Am I going to get any response from a moderator?

I'd be willing to help out if need be, and I'm sure several of the other members of the Dragoon community here (looking at you, LadyKiki, eTicket, Vyuru, Skoal, et al) woud be willing to come together to help the Dragoon section be as well-rounded as possible. I'm sure there's plenty of people in each of the other jobs as equally invested that could lend a helpful hand for thier section.

Considering that this guide will not be focused on jobs, I don't that many people are required for a section of any job. One or two people could easily cover the amount of writing I see being fit under a Dragoon or ect section. Puppetmaster and Summoner(mainly spirits) could require more because of the complex AI system, but eh.

The problem isn't so much that such a guide wouldn't be useful. It's the fact that many of the people who could contribute to such a guide actively dislike the original poster and would probably prefer to take a skinny dip in acid than help him feed his ego.
