I'm not sure how on earth you're supposed to figure this out unless you just have an inherent distrust of moogles, but here goes.

Before you even start, turn on your chat filter for emotes. Trust me.

Every few in-game hours a Twinkling Treant and a Nomad Moogle will spawn in each of the three main cities. They appear in Windurst Woods, Bastok Markets, and Northern San d'Oria. You can /cheer the moogle on to help it defeat the treant, or /cheer the treant on to help it get to the fountain.

If you don't cheer the treant, after the treant dies you can talk to the smilebringer that appears at the fountain for a kiddie present, which you can then trade to a child if you're wearing a Dream Hat for xmas fame so that the smilebringer will teleport you to another nation. NQ Dream Hats can be purchased from the moogles in Northern San d'Oria, Windurst Waters, or Port Bastok.

If you cheer the treant, when the treant reaches the fountain it will add more decorations to it, and the smilebringer will give you a quest instead of a present when you talk to him/her. Find the NPC in the same zone that's wearing a Dream Hat, talk to them, then return to the smilebringer for an event item reward. It seems like there's a short list of NPCs that the game picks from to recieve the hat.

So far I have recieved Dream Robe, Dream Robe +1, a furnishing called Dream Platter, and fireworks as rewards. The Dream Platter Furnishing is from San d'Oria, Dream Stocking is recieved in Windurst, and Dream Coffer is given in Bastok. All three furnishings give two storage, so they're somewhat more functional than previous event furnishings, and each furnishing reportedly contains a holiday food that your moogle will give to you after you set up the item in your mog house layout. Dream Coffer gives Gateau aux Fraises, Dream Platter contains a Buche au Chocolat, and probably the Dream Stocking will yield a Black Pudding.

The Dream Hat +1 is obtained by the same method as previous years. Purchase a holiday tree from one of the event moogles and set it up in your mog house. Wear your NQ Dream Hat and each Vana'diel day get a present from a smilebringer, trade it to a child, and check back with your moogle. Eventually your moogle will tell you they found a present under your tree. Take it outside to open it and recieve your Dream Hat +1. You may need to be in your home nation to get the present.

Don't know the location of the Bastok merchant moogles.

I do! Port Bastok. It's over near the north gate.

But the dream hats cost 10k. I don't have that much. The moogle also sells fireworks and christmas trees.

I better start saving up.

Windurst gives you the Dream Stocking.

Bastok gives you the Dream Coffer.

Sandy gives you the Dream Platter.

In order to get the Dream Robe, you must complete the treant in a city in which you've already gotten the furniture piece from.

In order to get the +1 Robe, you must complete the Treant in a city in which you've already gotten the furniture piece from while wearing the Dream Robe. I don't know if it is possible to get it in the same city you get the Dream Robe in, I did it in different.

You will also get the present if you cheer for the treant, but only one each game day. The furnishing is nice, as they all have 2 storage.

The dream hat +1 is most likely obtained in a similar way to other years, build your holiday fame giving presents to children and have a tree in your furniture, after 0:00 Japanese time your moogle will give you a present he found under the tree, use it on yourself for the +1

I can't confirm, but someone said they got a Dream Hat +1 also from the Treant event. I got my Dream Robe +1 (I already had the NQ version from last year) the 3rd time I did Sandy's Treant quest. My husband got the Dream Robe the 3rd time he did Sandy's Treant quest and the Dream Robe +1 the 2nd time he did Windy's Treant quest.

Sandy gives Sparkling Hands as its fireworks prize.
Windy give Popstars (yay!) as its fireworks prize.
I don't know what Bastok gives yet.

It's possible that the original method of obtaining the Dream Hat +1 doesn't work any more. Try doing the Treant quest a few times while wearing the NQ Dream Hat.

Managed to get the dream hat +1 after raising holiday fame to:

The children love you. Even i think your great!

in every town, come back and speak to my moogle and hes found a present under the tree.

After i went outside, used it and equipped the hat, i went back in to sort out my items and hed found a Roll of buche au chocolat in the dream platter

My friend said he found a Gateau aux fraises in the dream coffer...

Id guess you have to raise bastok holiday fame to find the gateau, sandorian to find the buche au chocolat and windurstian to find whatever is in the stocking
