I'm not exactly sure where to put this, but General Chat seems as good a place to start as any. This isn't an advertisement, but more of a heads up.

For a long time now I've been a member of the FFXI community (finalfantasy11) over at LJ. It was a fairly active community, and the largest and most busy FFXI community at Live Journal.

Anyway, yesterday the maintainer of the community threw a fit and deleted it in a fit of pique, and since LJ isn't going to undelete it for anyone, the community has been forced to move to FFXILJCommunity, which was created by a group of members who are hoping to keep the community going.

So if you ever used the old community, it's unfortunately gone forever, but you can find most of the people (and hopefully more as we get the word out) at the link above.^^

It has actually taken off really well - over 100 members so far.

I am one of the maintainers of the community (they are trying to make sure they have some in most time zones), so if you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

What kind of four year old ups and deletes and entire online community b/c of a temper tantrum? Thats just pathetic.

Yeah that about describes it. It all happened within about an hour as well. Ah well, pick ourselves up, carry on. Thanks for the support!

Sounds interesting, what exactly are LJ communities by the way? I've never been in one, but might as well give it a try.

Communities are just that - places to talk about something or other.

The FF community was a place to talk about how well you were doing, ask questions, just generally chat. To write to it you need a Live Journal account - there are a fair few FFXI bloggers out there (myself being one of them).

There was a lot of good information in the old one which was lost when the mod deleted it.

And you don't necessarily need an active journal of your own. Just an account. So if you're not the type who likes to write about your life or whatever, that's ok. You can still sign up for an account and join the community if you want to post or reply to posts. You can of course, read without joining anything.

And yeah. The old community had a lot of really great information built up, so it's really sad to see it go. But the folks running the new one are doing everything they can to organize things better, and really things back up and running ASAP.

If you want overexposure and nekkid chicks, move it from LJ to MySpace. I mean, like everyone here already has a MySpace account

MySpace doesn't really have the resources we're looking for. Besides, I can think of several people who don't have an account.
