High Prices for no reason!

If you don't like to work to earn your rewards, then you're likely to struggle in the future (in real life). Nevermind about brand new characters, they either adapt and learn, or fall off the edge and die (read: fail).

Personally just thinking about it, it was a waste of time getting a 75THF farming Stun and Tractor for you. Even if he's a good friend, it just doesn't cut it. But back to the point, it depends on what you value the more.

Sometimes I have a hard time relating to back in the day when I had limited gil, and it was more difficult to come by.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to negotiate with some JP for a speed belt, but for some reason the sob won't budge on price. lol

Sorry, but don't leave out details then. I have to make assumptions based on what you said. Stun or Escape, not too much difference. Both rather cheap spells that drops rather often.

And damn ... houses were £75,000 ($141,637.62) (2-3 bedroom house, average) 10 years ago. They are now £190,000 ($358,790.69). See my point? Demands rise, due to the inflation of asylums coming to the UK. RMT affected or not, there wasn't many people back then and now as more people play it's not surprising to see prices rise on items.

Inflation is unavoidable, much like tax. It'll become part of your life. Even this is only a game, there is still an economy. That's my point.

Mikesjustice: Kirin's Osode is 23 odd million on my server. Surprised to see that the knife is only worth that much on yours.

I don't really want one, but as an extreme example.

So Vandle, minus the Tenshedo Invite, which is 20k, was there any reason for the thread? There must be some other item on your mind that made you start this topic.

Its funny how the type of people who complain stuff is too expensive such as spells or single reward quest items (e.g RSE) are normally the ones who run to the AH as soon as they finish the quest to make a quick bit of gil.

When I said what I said, I meant in FFXI. The dev's made it so anyone can do anything in this game and that includes getting the best of the best items. There are very few 'one time only' choices so anyone can get whatever ubar rare piece of gear they wish.

The only things holding them back however are a) the community as they control the prices and availabilty of most items and b) the player themselves as they control how much effort they put into getting what they want.

Don't get me wrong though, the things you described in SWG sound extremely cool and I would *love* ffxi to have such customization. I personnally enjoy having my character look good and stand out from the crowd. Sadly, that's very difficult to do in this game.

As for the OP, I'm just curious how much tractor and escape sell for on your server. I know on mine they're both kinda 'dirt cheap'.

Earth Crystals - used to be 300-400gill a stack now 2k or more
All low lvl spells being double NPC price on AH
And most likely many others, Im not going to search the entire AH.

B) Suppy and demand my friend 3 years ago there wasnt many people playing. Not to mention prices generally increase over time in in-game ecnomey. Now-a-days, with PC, PS2, and Xbox360 all being able to play there's ALOT more people wanting that spell. Yes, the people selling it are making more money off it, but money is alot easier to come by. Take Astral rrings for example: When I first started playing Astrals were 200k each, I thought that was an outragous sum of gil, they go for 1mil + now. Nothing is going to stay the same forever.

Zinc has always jumped between 500-3k gil on my server, I've seen it as high as 4(excluding christmas boom)

Crystals also jump up and down drastically, usually earth crystals are 1k on my server though. Dark and Wind crystals took MASSIVE dives however, both are barely 1k a stack each when they were 5-6k previously.

All low lvl items are doubled on AH because people buy them from NPCs then sell them on AH for profit. People too ignorant( i.e. newbs) to know about NPC shops, or too lazy to go look for the shop, will then pay the overinflated price.

Not only that, but all of those things can be sold by lvl 1 characters, meaning it's easier to *make* money now.

and you know what this means? nothing, all prices have gone up for all items so it's not harder now than before to afford things.

Astrals are a horrible example of 'natural' inflation as the price increase came from a change in their supply. They are no longer found in Oz and have become BCNM only.

Ok given that you were previously a thf have you maybe tried *gasp, shock ,horror!* Farming

I have lots of expensive items and so do my friends. Do we buy gil? No.
Have we ever sold our quested items and scrolls such as Utsusemi or RSE? No.

I hate farming, none of my crafts are particularly high and I have never whored myself out as a power leveller, yet I have managed to get the every single spell I need, lots of expensive equipment and always carry a decent amount of consumables. Not to mention the fact that I horde all of my equipment (esp the +1s) so I don't make my gil back from selling it.

You'll spend a very long time opeing coffers if you want an Astral.

Oh and on the subject of the price "increases" my elemental staves are now at roughly a third of the price I paid for them (a long time ago) and I got them at a discounted rate.
