What was S-E's intent when they completely screwed the legit digger community? RMT will always find a workaround, but legit diggers who dig for their source of in-game income or to supply their own HELM items for crafting are now crippled. |

Once again, stating a question as an insult is not going to get your question even considered, let alone answered.

Further, you seem to omit how SE "screwed the legit digger community." Of course, I'm not terribly familiar with digging, or how SE changed it, so maybe someone with reasonable experience in digging wouldn't need you to state explicitly what changes SE made to digging and how those changes adversely affect the digger community...

I think SE did a very good job with the update. Sure, you can only use 5-20 stacks of greens per day(depending on how much you dug the previous days) but with the zones reloading every min. I think it balances out really well and only effects the 24/7 botters. Besides, it makes it more realistic. How many chocobos can eat over 240 Greens in half a day? If you've ever planted Wildgrass seeds in your MH those greens are actually pretty big.

I dont know why anyone is really upset about this... You know why they nerfed Chocobo digging and RMT wasnt the main reason. As someone I know put it; "They nerfed Chocobotting." |

I can understand why entrenched diggers would be upset. Under the old system, chocobo digging was a virtual monopoly. Established diggers made conditions nearly impossible for aspiring diggers to grow their digging skills to the point where they could hope to compete.

A better change to Chocobo Digging would have been: 1. Increase chocobo digging time with fatigue. Make it become greater and greater, to the point, after 4-6 hours of straight digging, you dig once a minute. Have it not be based on items. 2. When digging in a zone with another digger, have a player with fatigue have a less chance to dig something up than non-fatigued diggers, but otherwise unchanged if no other digger is in the zone. 3. New "greens/chocobo feed" that can only be obtained from harvesting and/or gardening that are more effective than the ones you buy at stables. They will lower your fatigue rate. 4. Along with all or some of above, it should take longer to get fatigued.

Lock? or Lock? There are so many ways to ask this question, practically trying to insult, shotgun, and improper english, isn't the best way. Flame bait? I bit @.@ |

Wait 2 weeks and see the super-resliant breedable chocobo that can dig almost as much as pre-patch rental chocobos? There's obviously going to be a breedable chocobo that is good at digging. Just chill.

I agree that the original poster has gone WAY too abrasive and lacks enough detail in his post to help the situation. For my viewpoint - I'm still fairly new to the game, perhaps a month and a half. I took up chocobo digging as a sidelight, something to do while waiting for low level NMs to pop, for something to do during journeys, for luck to see if I could pop up something good for resale. And since it was moderately profitable and useful to level, I did what probably most people new to a craft do - I worked it a LOT in the course of a couple weeks and was, pre-patch, probably approximately halfway to Rank 3. Because you still have that SHINY AND NEW thing going on and you're having fun. I got a few good digs, mostly a couple gold beastcoins. Dug up a red jar one day and I was all 'AWESOME!' Now, even with a fresh day, on a set of 5 stacks of chocobo greens, I get very little good. Pebbles, some bone chips, but even the random cracks I had at better stuff seem to be seldom. This is factoring in moon phases and so forth - some of these digs post-patch were with the moon near full, in zones from Jeuno to East Saru. From overly dug to almost never dug. It is very noticeable to me as a newer digger and it's a little disheartening to know that you can't just work through those lower ranks and putz on up to getting better. I'm not quite sure how the current 'fatigue' is being tallied, if it really is something like 5 stacks a day, but if it IS something like that... newer players taking up digging will never max out the skill. If it takes about 15,000 stacks of Ghysal to hit the theoretical highest rank... it cannot be done under the new tweak. Not in a year, not in three years. If it's around 5 a day and you do it 365 days a year, it's less than 2000 stacks. The game will have been shut down long before a week old player gets anywhere near the highest levels of choco digging skills. My suggestion would have been to allow less fatigue for newer diggers - you really wanna push through 30-40 stacks in a day for a couple weeks, knock yourself out. The amount of pebblage versus 'HQ' digs would likely balance out under lower skills. Increase fatigue dramatically, say, around rank 5 in the skill, or a medium strength digger. The logic there being that a more accurate digger will weary themselves and the chocobo faster. By rank 10, indeed, you could really only do 3-5 stacks of Ghysals every day or two, but it is balanced out by your higher probability of really good digs. It's a craft that should compliment other crafts without 'botting,' and while I agree that anything that ruins the day of RMT is good, this particular tweak feels more than a little bit collateral damaged on normal, for-fun diggers. --note, all of this is strictly for stable chocos. Who knows what'll happen with breeding? ---I hope somebody reads this... |

There was this Galka on my server... always chocobo digging and Altepa, always without fail. Every day, any time you went. Any time you could pick, you could log in, go there and there he was, going between east and west altepa, digging away. Very little question in my mind this was a bot and an example why SE made the adjustment. |

Reminds me of a dude I saw in Windy; every time I went into town he was somewhere near the town circle making Shihei. Every. Single. Day. Hours on end. So, yah, I'm pro the change myself, just worried if it's overly tweaked. Reading other threads, I'm getting some hope that this'll actually work out nicely by the end.

It's possible that they changed the skillup rate at the same time, and/or that bred chocobos will help you skillup faster (either through having less fatigue, digging up better items that you are more likely to get skillup for, or just plain having a skillup bonus). How would anyone know yet? I don't think SE is going to disregard the concerns of people planning to start chocobo digging after they can use their own chocobo for it, or who are new to the game and want to participate in chocobo digging. If they did make skilling up excessively difficult by accident, or make the limits too restrictive for non-bot/RMT diggers, they will likely fix it in 3 weeks, or at worst, a couple months. The current system has only half the intended changes implemented because of the delays to chocobo breeding. Have some patience and see how it works once it is fully in place before bitching about it.
