My Japanese POL disc is broken. ; ;
I attempted a reinstall of FFXI on one of my computers, and my optical drive doesn't seem to want to read my POL disc. I put the disc in some other computers to try and see if I could salvage it by ripping it, but it never quite worked right.

So...I can't seem to install POL even though I own the game, and I'd really rather not have to import a new copy of the entire game just for one disc. It would be one thing if my NA version didn't work, but importing is a bit more expensive (plus Japan seems to never lower prices over time).

I know some people provide copies of the expansions and such (for instance, for people who bought Aht Urhgan but don't have a DVD drive) online since you can't even run the game without an account. Is there any place I could possibly get a copy of my broken disc, or is my only option to import again and wait?

Well now, that would be against the rules. Though if some magic JP CD Fairy sends you a PM...

*cough* My Disc is in Utah, I am in Texas.

Sure this thread will be closed, hopefully no one can be flogged for mentioning it.

It may be against the forum rules, but you owning a backup copy of the software you have acuired the right to use won't be a problem, as far as US copyright law is concerned. (I'm not a lawyer, so take this only as a supplemental info.) However, if you didn't make a backup yourself, and instead you downloaded it from somewhere, how you obtained it may be questioned, but still, owning such a copy will not.

Obviously, we can't tell you where or how you can possibly download it, but if you can manage to find it on your own, and decide to go ahead and download, make sure you keep the original disk, just in case.

If you live outside of US, make sure you check your country's copyright laws, as it may not be allowed to own a backup in your jurisdiction.

I think I heard POL support giving links to backups of the discs on the website or something, though I can't be sure.
