I don't think it's too bad for pld :/ I read that Phalanx II can be cast on a party member. So that atleast helps with tanking.
Big problem, though. RDM can only fully merit 2 of the new spells, and I don't see many fully meritting Phalanx2 (especially if it's only superficiously better than phalanx1 solo).

Especially with everybody melee burning, using 1/2 of your new stuff on something that isn't going to be used much (thanks to /nin) doesn't make much sense.

Some rdms might go with one full merit spell, and then phalanx2 at lvl 1 and maybe another at lvl 2, and still others might just have all 6 at lvl 1, but the point is that this isn't going to be a regular thing plds can depend on if they invite a rdm.

THF won big-time, I believe. They got some really neat job trait/abilities as well as high level daggers doing more damage.

Oooooh, I can't wait to try out the daggers now =D I wonder how much damage thieves will we be able to do now. It will be insane damage if that Assassin's Charge ability works with weapon skills

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
This isn't job wise, but the people who lost are all the xbox 360 owners who aren't level 75 since they can't get ANY of the Achievements. (I'm included in these people.) Only good things Xbox owners got was they can now play in 1024x768, and Final Fantasy XI is in their currently playing list instead of PlayOnline Viewer.

Wow, tier 2 enfeebles, I'm drooling.
I can't wait to try them out, so gutted that I gave away all my gear and gil when I quit 7 months ago now. I can't even attempt to merit.

Problem was that there are so many people with multiple 75s that they needed to do something. X-box users haven't had the 2/3 + years in game, with capped merits and begging for more goodies. I'm personally happy (my main jobs are whm and rdm, so I made out like a bandit), though my ls are now telling me to go solo Genbu and they will stand and watch...

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
I'm not sure if any of the jobs really "lost" anyway. They all got something new, and time will tell if the new abilities are of any worth.

Of course, there are those jobs that need a bit of a boost, but that's more because the community has been narrowing it's focus a lot lately, and a lot of jobs get left out in the cold. So, I dunno. All of the new abilities look cool to me.

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
The bard ability that lets them cast a song at 1.5x casting time and get double effect is a bit misleading. It doubles the duration of the song and that is all. So it is not a mini-soul voice.

What new automation set did pup get?

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
Longer song duration is still really nice. Any amount of time that a BRD can have added to their songs is good news for me. :D

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
One thing that seems to have gone unnoticed is the change to Raise and Reraise.
Quote:
The amount of experience points recovered by using the white magic spells "Raise" and "Reraise" has been increased from 25% to 50%
I think this is great and hopefully will convince some of you to accept a raise from the lowly rdm in your party rather than sitting on the floor for half and hour bitching for a Raise 2/3.

I don't know much about the WHM merit abilities. Do they help to make WHM a bit more desireable for meripo and whatnot?

Re: Big winner and big loser in the update
All I know is that level 1 pro V only adds 5 more defense, and we will be having another maint to fix it as it is broken, and wearing off too early....
