world pass
Since I am finally getting FFXI, my friends wants it now too. I told him though that we might not be on the same world and I'd need a world pass for us to actually meet up. However, I don't really understand how it works. Where do I get one from and how do I give it to my friend? Thank you!!

I don't really know how to put this, but
I'm kind of a big deal. People know me.

Re: world pass
You'll both randomly land on separate worlds when you first sign up. At that point, one of you will have to purchase a World Pass (prices vary) or a Gold World Pass (1k gil) from the vendor in your starting city of choice. Have a race to see who can raise the 1k the fastest. :D

Or, you can browse the server forums here and find one that seems appealing and just get two regular world passes right off, and start on the same world.

Either or.

Re: world pass
If one buys a World Pass, it has 5 uses within a set amount of time...

If I get you a World Pass for Diabolos, they have to register within I think 5 days. I forgot the time limit.

Re: world pass
As much as possible, see if you're eligible for the Gold World Pass. Since it doesn't cost you a dime more than what you're already paying in your monthly subscriptions, I say this is the far more attractive benefits of encouraging friends to join you in your adventures.

Re: world pass
I would say post here for a wp as each has 5 uses you could both get on the same server. Each servers forum has a topic for requesting wp's.

However I would recomend one of you logging on then buying a gold wp. Problem here is if you want a specific server, if not its ok. If however you want a specific server go with the first option of requesting a wp on these forums then buying the gold wp for your friend or him/her buying it for you as its totally worth it for the cool items and it doesnt cost alot more gil.

Wait...so a world pass adds to the cost of your monthly subscription fee, unless it's a gold pass? I know a gold pass is 1000 gil, correct? How much is a regular one, and how much would that add to my subscription fee?

Re: world pass
No, what Aeni means is that it doesn't cost any more real money, but it gives you more benefits than a regular world pass.

Re: world pass
Doesn't add to subscription fee.

It's a charge in game for in game currency - gil.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. I was kind of like "what..." there...haha. Thanks for clearing that up.

Re: world pass
If you don't care what server you both land on:

1.) Both of you get the game and end up on a random world.
2.) You both try and raise 1k gil, and then purchase a Gold World Pass.
3.) Whoever lost the Gold Pass race starts over on the other person's server.
4.) You both enjoy World Pass Benefits. One of you at first, and then both of you after 40 days.

That's what I'd do. If you do have a particular server in mind, then just request a World Pass in that server's WP Thread.

Re: world pass
Yeah, Eohmer (hope I spelled that correctly...) said he'd get me one or something for the Diablos server.
