2.) It doesn't hurt to be prepared.
3.) Sometimes using a -na spell on you isn't as important as getting another tick or two of MP back. Its not much to ask tho seens as the mages usually have full MP at the end of the fight anyway for them to cure my status ailments to save me alot of money. And in a PT session you can get poisened over a 100times, I dont have the inv space to cover this and other problems that items "could" cure when the mages can do it for me. Glad you're not on my server. | Reading comprehension ftw. You missed at least one statement he made concerning that.
I had the annoying pleasure once of partying with a DRG that never had anything. I mean litterally ... nothing. He even wanted to buy some snoll gelatos off me because he didn't have food. I always have food/sneak/invisi on me. Usually got invisi from nin sub but carry powders when I dont. Forgive me for forgetting some people do not carry these all the time, I didnt realise people were still that naive. Besides, I think in a post long ago, there was similar discussions with regard to this. Also I get this vibe you're not like that DRG... So, when you die of poison, do you blame the WHM for being new and not having poisona? I suppose that's alright... Do you blame the WHM if a goblin aggroed them and they died, followed by you dying of poison? Or if they pull hate and die? Again, followed by your death from poison.
Newbies are everywhere. People that don't really want to play WHM and are only leveling it as a sub are rampant. Not carrying a 300 gil antidote is the difference between "a close one" and "omfg this whm sux and i died".
Anyway... This is stuff in my safe/inventory. I don't carry it all at once.
In consumables I carry around these lately:
- Stack of echo drops. I've had the same stack for months.
- Stack of prism powder. I've never needed them much for SMN, but they're very handy for MNK or exploring ifrits/mount zhayolm.
- Stack of silent oil. Old HNM habit.
- 8 tool bags of shihei.
- 30 some shinobi-tabi.
- Varous amounts of holy bolts and demon arrows, made to sell on AH.
- Light Crystals for on the spot fishing rod repair.
- Materials to make insect balls. Only 8000 more moat carp to go...
- Hysteroanima. For promy ENMs.
- Terroanima. Ditto.
Reusables:
- Olduum Ring. Rarely used...
- Tavnazian Ring.
- Homing Ring.
- Warp Cudgel. And enough materials in my safe to make another 70...
- Ducal Guard Ring. Used on level 1 to 35 jobs.
- Treat Staff II
- Trick Staff II
- Signet Staff. Stupid sanction and signet having the same icon...
- Nyiri Brand reraise earring.
- Hi-Ether tank.
Food:
- Ginger Cookie. WHM and SMN food. I don't exp lately (too much lag) so these get me by just fine for smaller things like assault or random mini-NM or WS NM killing.
- Sis Kebabi. MNK food. Awesome when I'm fighting VTs or when I'm in a group with a bard using madrigal.
- Sole Sushi. For when I'm not in above mentioned parties.
- Meat Chiefkabob. I need to mule these again...they're not overly useful for my MNK any more (compared to sis kebabi).
- Melon Pie, for peacock charm BCNM.
Occasionally I tote around materials for juice. I carry antidotes when I'll be fighting stuff that uses poison. Or near aggresive monsters that use it. I think that carrying around hi-potions into an exp party might be a bit excessive. Although, truth be told, I feel bad for main healers when I'm on my MNK and I use berserk (or heaven forbid...a party with a bard).

I said if a link/mpk attempt happened I wouldnt care if I died and I most certainly never said I would blame a new whm for not having poisona. If the whm doesnt have it by lv30+ I will blame them tho cause they have had plenty of time to learn about it by then. If a goblin aggroes them and they die I would say yea its theyre fault as they were not watching, if however it aggros in the heat of a battle you can usually pull it back with 2 mages anyway. I had the annoying pleasure once of partying with a DRG that never had anything. I mean litterally ... nothing. He even wanted to buy some snoll gelatos off me because he didn't have food. Umm... wtf? | And I shall quote...
"What the hecks the point in me making a party with 3 melee and 3 mages if the mages cant do their f**king jobs. Exp is good, I dont need to bring anything except emp band unless I get a bunch of retard mages. HNM camping/Missions are dif, I do take stuff for those. Never died yet cause I didnt take items."
Ok.. hmm... let me reread this again...
'What the heck is the point in me making a party with 3 melee and 3 mages if the mages can't do their jobs.'
Hmm - sometimes mages get silenced too, sometimes bad things happen to good mages, you can't plan everything.. blah blah blah.. if you're not prepared for eventualities - you are a liability to the party. I miss anything?
Next sentence.
'Exp is good, I dont need to bring anything except emp band unless I get a bunch of retard mages.'
Again - the word food springs to mind here. Maybe reading literally.. but shoot... sounds pretty straight forward to me. Maybe it's those lack of retard mages, or maybe it's just the fact that I do bring what I classify as the essentials to party's nonstop. Or maybe - it's the fact that I appreciate that even the best mages can't do everything... maybe it's just because I barely use my Emp Ring, and find being well equipped more worthwhile to a party than a free 1k exp.
Penultimate sentence.
'HNM camping/Missions are dif, I do take stuff for those.'
Oh really?
Last sentence
'Never died yet cause I didnt take items.'
Good for you.
Hmm... I realise I posted after others said the same thing... but... that was the message that I replied to. No, I think you'll find my reading comprehension just fine Aeni. I read, I analysed, I thought to myself - goddamn.. that's a drain on my party's resources... and trust me.. if the Drg was in my party, funny - they would get kicked before the fourth mob was up*.
- Saeriel.
*reason why the fourth mob.. it takes three same type mobs to choose which food is best suited to exp depending on the mob/level difference/etc... not that non melee would ever know this, by sheer abscence of having to worry about such details. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-29-2006, 02:56 PM | #60 (permalink) | | Ares's Cuirass Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,990 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 8 Thanked 31x in 25 Posts Gil: 1,049 Bank: 3,166 Total Gil: 4,215 Donate | Re: What useable items do you carry?
