I used to carry fruit everywhere with me, but then water clusters got harder to farm (and people started having Refresh or Ballad) so I stopped with the "compact juice." Seeing how many other people do it tempts me to take it up again. Only 2 inventory slots, and RDMs have been getting scarce lately.


A few nights ago I PTed with a galka MNK who kept using hi-potions and potions, even when in white HP. At first this was a little annoying, because I rarely cap out PT members HP so that Regen can do it's magic work, and because I felt he was expecting me not to heal him.

On the other hand, he had a CRAPLOAD of HP and probably saved me a lot of MP doing that.

On the third hand, when the BLM thundagaed everything in sight and we had about eight to ten links, I ran out of MP very very quickly and the galka mnk who was carrying his own cures was only outlasted by our PLD (Invincible >>> Warp scroll). I felt rather bad because between the MNK and the PLD, they made a decent distraction with the idea of letting me get out of the zone. Unfortunately, I was lost beyond all belief and ran down a blind alley instead of towards zoneline, got trapped, and died rather messily. (that was when the PLD ejected)

Having ethers or mulsim on hand would have made for a nice emergency teleport then, and mulsim is only one inventory slot.









I basically started this thread because it hits me, over and over and over again, how few mages on midgard carry echo drops. All the way through Altep desert (the first time I encountered a Silence effect that WAS A PROBLEM (And boy howdy was it ever)) I was the only mage that ever carried echo drops. And I was usually the group newb. I was wondering if carrying medicines like echo drops, eye drops, remedys was really so rare, when they're available for so incredibly cheap and in unlimited quantities (I buy from Mjoll's in Bastok, or the tarutaru in Windurst Waters)

Which reminds me, I have a funny but off-topic story about a taru nin in Altep I might put in my journal someday.

The tail from Leaping Lizzy. It was the first and only item she dropped for me when I got my first claim. About 10 minutes after putting it i nmy bazaar she popped again, I got claim and she dropped her leaping boots. Kept it bazaared ever since.

I'm getting in the habit of carrying prism/sneak oil, even if I'm playing rdm because sometimes stuff agroes magic and you never know when it's going to come in handy. Same with antidotes. Besides that, mostly normal stuff. Food, empress, a return ring.

Worse thing that happened to me was I was clearing out my inventory for room to start lvling war at lvl 5 and put my empress band in my mog locker by mistake. I had set my hp in bastok before I realized it, so I had to take the ship over. I passed the time by wearing my war armor and pretending to be a war 7/2 "bleck mage" on the ship. Then dia a crab and run downstairs yelling for help and some high blm was there and told me to call for help but I pretended not to know how to.

I agree. Melee jobs could really benefit from having alchemy 40ish to make their own potions as sabaron has said. And why not bring some milk? Its dirt cheap! Monsters really don't like it when you use potions...and thats what you want right?

I'd carry noodles too, but i can't make them yet, and there's never any to buy!

What the hecks the point in me making a party with 3 melee and 3 mages if the mages cant do their f**king jobs. Exp is good, I dont need to bring anything except emp band unless I get a bunch of retard mages. HNM camping/Missions are dif, I do take stuff for those. Never died yet cause I didnt take items.

A mage's job isn't to babysit you through a zone because you didn't bring Oil and Powder. And if I'm out of MP or resting (or dead), having a few antidotes on you could mean the difference between you being alive or dead.

Like I said, why would they be dead unless theyre crap at their job? Ppl hardly ever die, and its not an attitude. If I die because of some huge link or mpk attempt that wipes the whole party I dont see how the items could have saved me. I didnt mean oils/powders sorry. Antidotes, Potions, eye drops etc, dont need them.
