What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Atori-Tutori ??? is a jerkori. We were doing pretty well until the first tail wore off. The guy to use the tail next was a little slow to react and we lost our DD as a result, though even then we were still doing a decent job. We got him down to 6% (according to Linkshell member) and then... I guess he activated Invincible + Party Obliteration.

One second after using Invincible (as advised), my health went from 1665 to 0. I... could not comprehend.

For what it's worth, Invincible only stops physical damage.

I learned that the hard way with Perfect Dodge. There is also one extra addition in that PD only avoids melee attacks.

He has Enfire, can skillchain and IIRC, can use Formless Strikes

He almost always has Formless Strikes on it seems.

For my Genkai we just zerg it without Rabit item or anything, nin x2 mnk x2 sch, rdm. The fight lasted probably 30 seconds after engaging, but he still managed to kill someone with Hundred Fists.

Because getting help in current FFXI is a difficult task for many. While 'soloing' may prove to require more skill from an individual (arguable), the purpose right now is to stretch FFXI as thin as possible while developing with as a little resources as possible (hello neo-'insert content here'!). I still enjoy FFXI, probably more so than many people who continue to view these threads but it doesn't a genius to figure out that almost the entirety of SE development team is focused on FFXIV: ARR.

It's been months since the announcement of Seekers of Adoulin and we haven't gotten as much as a new in-game screenshot, let alone a new trailer video.

Gonna agree with the top half, I am also psyched at the beta coming to PS3 soon. Now the question is, will we be able to download it or do we need our copy of the disc? Mine is reserved at Gamestop, waiting for my PS3 to eat it. If Gamestop is already giving reserves then I can expect to see the game within a few months or so. I was able to reserve Skyrim 6 months before it came out, so I can wait on XIV a lot longer.

However, the way XI stands as it is now, the game is going to collapse in on itself eventually, whether it be an imbalance of players due to levels or just old players not wanting to play anymore. But the game has been going on for 10 years and SE has stated as long as they have players they won't shut the game down. So my statement is probably moot. Further beyond that, the playerbase for XI is no short than just plain fucked. People won't accept you as a real "XI" player unless you have Empy everything and people always have to put their two cents into everything you do. I got into an arguement with someone named Pesh who tried to start a shit storm since I wasn't subbing /NIN on my THF in Abyssea. Abyssea...WORMS mind you. I came /DNC for my own survival and so WHMs don't need to run over half to map to cure bomb me if I get Stone IV'd. Now being Stone IV'd x 3 plus MM's Stone V yeah, I am pretty fucked, but other than that I'll be fine with capped Evasion. They pretty much called me gimp for not subbing a job and I sat there and told them "You don't pay for my membership to XI. So until then, don't dictate my play style." Then they proceeded to resorting to troll tactics and using internet memes. "You mad bro?" "Why you so mad?" When I was just trying to make a logical statement and also pointed out that not everyone plays the same way you do. A friend of mine gave me a new way to play PUP which I never tried before. He told me to try doing PUP/NIN and it's suprisingly good, with shadows up, on top of Stoneskin/Phalanx and Stone V your pretty much set against anything in Abyssea that's not a NM. He also told me that he was able to solo Sippoy in Vunkeral using PUP/NIN and using the C-5/6 Automaton while using Optic Fiber. He also had a different Atma set than I did, so I tried it and I got Sippoy down 1/4 before Inteference killed me. But that being said, players don't want to experiment outside the normal when it comes to doing things, it's either "Do this or be nothing." Which is why I am going to just drop XI when XIV comes around to PS3. I'm also happy old XI players hate XIV, it gives me a reason to not bother with them coming to XIV and being a angry XI nerd which nobody will care for. As for Seekers of Aldouin I don't see what that's going to do for XI besides just bring in my cash, all that's going to happen (from what I can see) is it will just turn the spine that XI used to have into a fine dust which will be sprinkled off into the wind.

Long Story Short: Hate new XI | Praising XIV

I also like how now in XIV there is voice acting, the reading in XI was just too much. I think I've spent more time reading dialogue on XI than I have reading any set of books in my entire life. I also do like how there are "Disciplines" instead of "Jobs" in XIV. It reminds me of the license system in Final Fantasy 12, which I enjoyed VERY much. So I think my adaptation to XIV will go smoothly, I also like the new HD look and the redone character models, it just screams "Fresh". On top of that the opening cutscenes for your character are brilliant (Thank you J9) which make the game far greater than anything I've played. I will now wait for the angry counter argument of how XI is "better" when I may point this out now that XI has had 10 years on XIV. Yeah sure XIV made a sink or swim move when it came out and I won't lie, it sunk HARD but how can you improve on a product if you don't get feedback from your clients? I'm more fascinated with the overworld aspect of XIV as well, it looks breath taking and marvelous.

On the forums I come off as Negative to just about everyone, which is fine, since it's a forum. Can't place a voice behind text now can I? The only person who can vouch for my good moods is Raydeus, since he plays with me in-game. I never said there weren't going to be elitest pricks. That's just people in general, you stroke someone's ego it will get bigger and eventually they develop what is known as a god-complex, which is fine, but that doesn't mean I won't say something about it. I have friends there who are "fun" but the old experience is what was "fun" to me. Pre-Abyssea and I have fun in my own right, I also wonder why I play the game myself, part of me just wants to say "Screw it." and move on but the other part of me who relished the old times that were had is still hoping they'll come back. Which is why I am banking on XIV so much.

This is exactly why I am on hiatus from FFXI until either Seekers or ARR is out at least. I asked myself if I was having fun and realised that I was not having fun. Simple as that.

No way this is a coincidence, someone at Squeenix is messing up with players.

I get to where the Pyg..pagy... anyway the Adamantoise things live in Gustav Tunnel along with some worms to cap sword and dagger, and there's a couple of players fighting stuff. So I arrive and start killing my first worm, then ask if they are there to get the item or to skill up. But before they replied I killed the worm and got a seasoning stone. They were actually looking for it, bad luck, but we team up and start killing again. More than 35 mobs later the stone finally dropped (this involved one of them changing to THF to see if it helped), so they finally got it and warped out.

I'm still a few levels to cap so I remain and continue killing and getting regiments for tabs. I got 14 more kills, and in those 14 kills I got the damn stone 8 times. I counted them, 8 freaking times! So I'm pretty convinced Squeenix has something in there killing the drop rate as long as anyone with the quest is present. When I was farming for the stone for the rabbit tail I spent around 10 hours in 3 separate days and didn't get a thing, then moved servers and got the genkai done without it. Since then I can't kill anything higher lvl without getting that damn trash.

I got an item in the present Karaha-Baruha used in the past to <spoiler>. But! It wouldn't have happened this way since he shouldn't have gotten the item through me in the first place as that has already happened. And when I got the item it's obvious the <spoiler> that gave it to me was completely aware of what giving me the item would cause, specially since this happened after 9-2 windy. @_@
