Again….my main point here was just being annoyed by the +.4 skill ups on 36 synths. More just bitching about my luck I guess.

To be honest...in this particular case, it’s kind of a moot point to discuss profit/loss. I mean don’t get me wrong, I understand your guys’ posts and I understand the mistake I made in my last post about profiting. And you’re 100% right. But at the end of the day…I am not cooking for gil. Let’s just be honest here…If I needed gil, a simple Dynamis and/or Salvage run will net me more than a full day of cooking would (probably).

There are probably much better synths to skill up on than the various pet foods. It just seems to make sense that if I use these items (zetas) on a regular basis AND I can skill up at the same time, why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone. So by that logic, whether I farm or purchase ingredients, it’s a loss either way. That’s kinda why I haven’t gone with bison steak yet. Pet food > Steak at the moment for me. I solo A LOT of NMs in abyssea (for emp items). I can just spam cheap pet food, allowing me to swap Mounted champ atma with something better.

I merely made way more pet food than I anticipated so I put some stacks on the AH. I’m not complaining about what they sell for. Inventory is tight as it is and I there’s no way I could hold 20+ stacks of pet food. I just figured I’d get a little more bang off the AH vs. NPCing.

It's true. You could go into Dynamis and sneeze and make more gil than I've made off cooking in the last several weeks.

No worries man, I don't begrudge you your mad money making skills. I think it's impressive as hell what you're able to pull off. I am however a little jealous since I've always had a bit of trouble making gil and I definitely don't have the knack for Dynamis.

I have no idea what that post was but everyone knows that RMTs monopolise Abyssea XP camps to both charge for Power Levelling Services and also exchange Cruor for items that you can NPC anyway.

If the the money is irrelevant, why not just buy the materials instead of farming less productive things?

AH being out of stock, making progress on multiple goals simultaneously by farming, because he finds it relaxing, etc. There's plenty of reasons someone might choose to farm ingredients over straight up purchasing them.

Chocobo Blinkers aren't even the best way of making money though. I make more money per hour farming crystals than I do farming Cruor unless it's a 300k XP/hour party.

There's a ton of other ways to make money from nothing too. A number of Pet Jugs for example NPC for far more than it costs to make (Bug Broth has something like a 2000% profit margin). Food prices have skyrocketed since pre-Abyssea because very few people bother making them now.

Lowering the price return on Chocobo Blinkers wouldn't do much really other than piss off players who have a ton of Cruor and nothing to spend it on and no way to turn it into something more useful. Even full prices Brews are pretty cheap to the average player since you can make that much Cruor simply by capping merits for a few jobs.

Even then it wouldn't change much since there's far better ways of making money than just that.

I find that dubious. That or the folks you're running with aren't doing a good job of farming cruor.

You should try some low end Voidwatch parties too. Killing tier 4 city NMs rakes in mad cruor pretty damn quickly once you get the run started. It's a much better source of cruor than sitting in a worm party. Just watch for Applebottoms shouting for Celaeno.

Apparently bug broth's NPC price got nerfed two years back. I'll agree that cooking is in a pretty good spot right now, but some of those price hikes are because people aren't out farming ingredients, so the base cost to create food has gone up as well.
