True, but ambivalence can't help but turn to bitterest, most venomous hatred when said individual leveling a job for superfluous purposes outbids you for Relic armor on the job you take so seriously.

If we're both lotting for something and they outbid me, that's just the luck of the draw. Does it suck? Yes. But it still doesn't mean that I have any right to say that they way they are leveling is wrong.

No, this is the biggest failure of point systems if there ever was one. I come from EQ, I subscribe to "Need before greed." If you outbid on gear you don't need just because you can; if you bitch bid just so you can drain another member's points - you are a selfish prick.

I don't know why the FFXI community even tolerates that kind of behavior.

Best Dynamis point system I know of is points for monday and friday are separate and once you win bid and get the drop all your points are wiped, no matter how many you had left. Prevents said bitch-bidding.

That's your fault for getting emotionally involved with gear in a game. If the LS you're in decides someone else has the right to lot on something you want, then you just have to deal, or find an LS that agrees with you.

Emotion has little to do with it, I have practically no competition where my endgame needs are concerned, but I'm well-aware of the jobs that are competing more fiercly and I do disagree with with a point system that has no checks and balances.

You're right, I don't have to join them, I know a good shell and intend to join it soon. But that doesn't mean I have to respect shells with inherently flawed point systems.

When did I mention point systems? The system doesn't matter. Every LS (and guild in other games) that I have been a part of has decided who can lot on what based on various factors, but I've always known that it's my choice to accept the lot system they have, or vote with my feet. Getting angry that someone else has the audacity to be allowed to lot on something I feel I deserve more is nothing more than hubris and greed.

New things for my list.

1. Comatose silence in parties has been happening a lot to me lately, the leader too. It’s especially worrying when non-trivial things like setting up a skillchain/moving position/changing mob are bought up. Is it going to kill you to talk to the other people here enough to set up a skillchain so you can, oh I don’t know, exp faster and easier? How about telling the puller not to attack the goblin he's asking if we want because it will wipe us? I can’t remember who said it on here but soloing in a group is a very accurate way of describing it.

2. Stupid Hypocrites. First Cor I ever partied with a while back was in the Jungles. We had about 5-10 minutes to wait for a replacement to show up, most people had run for the loo or a drink and I was crafting some juice to get my reserves back up. He ran over and cast a roll on me while I was mid craft and I lost my ingredients which was not something I knew would happen. I politely asked him if he wouldn’t do that while I was crafting and explained why…silence (see 1). Couple of minutes later he did it again and when I called him up on it he gave me a ‘I thought we were here to exp not to craft’. Not only did he get snarky with me for crafting juice to be efficient and prepared, he did it wearing a Fisherman’s Tunica to exp in.


3. Realising after…..4-5 months? of playing that my character looks like I deliberately set out to make a Yuna clone! *vague embarrasment*

Not that I'm aware of, just last week it happened to me while my husband was PL-ing my THF. I was pissed. And personally, I think that system sucks. Theoretically, if I knew what someone was crafting, I could seriously fuck him out of a LOT of gil by curing him in the middle of his craft. That's not right AT ALL.

they "fixed" it a while back, by adding that /ignore help or whatever it is ingame. keeps people (not in your party) from casting spells on you. But no they have not actually fixed it yet.

Well I know it's /blockaid, but I didn't know about the "screw up your craft by curing someone" feature until just about a week ago. And I'm sorry, but if I sit down to craft one or two things while in an xp party, or just in front of the AH because I happen to have the items, I'm not going to remember/care to turn on /blockaid for just that.

Really stupid system, if you ask me.

What I can't figure out is why SE implemented this in the first place. What good can come out of somebody screwing somebody else's craft by curing them? SE is evil. Evil!
