Yeah... wish I could help ya there... seems like when I don't want them and only want the mob's to drop what they inherently drop, I get nothing but caskets... anytime I want caskets, vice versa. I swear this game has some kinda malicious AI that looks into your <3 and understands what you want then makes it way more difficult for you to get it. I know people who have tried for ages to get that crown thingie from Ro'M and still not been successfull; however, I have no need for it, so I've gotten it in caskets about 3-4x now up there just solo'n.

And then a week later RL started giving me a few interesting events too. More interesting than SE rehashing the same things year after year, that's for sure.

Even better, from what I've been seeing, this update that everybody has been waiting four months for looks to be pretty lame, aside from that "synergy" thing, which looks like augments minus the fail of randomness, because you can throw them away without wasting an item. Oh yeah, and the anti-tellspam fix which will surely have some sort of fail in it.

Here's a pet peeve of mine, people like this that moan and complain about stuff in the game. Can't get your linkshell to help you get sky? There's a thing called /shout. I'm sure there's plenty of new people out there who need sky. If you have to wonder why you carry a pearl around, maybe its time to get a new LS. Perfect example, a dude named Lutzow on my server, speaks mostly spanish, yet managed (with just 4 people) to go from ZM4 to getting sky access in the course of a day, by, you guessed it, shouting for members in Aht Urghan.

Dont diss on the next few updates being lame if you've already left the game. You sound like a vindictive ex-girlfriend/boyfriend talking trash about their ex-significant other's choice in a new partner. If RL started giving you better, more interesting stuff to do, then WTF are you doing here? Go out and enjoy said events. Sheesh, people like you make me want to bash my head on the wall.

Counter-peeve: people who don't bother to read that that wasn't even the reason I left. Also, people who bitch at other people venting steam. Oh I know it wasnt the reason you left, but coming back to an FFXI forum, and to gripe about all that stuff, it really "grinds my gears" so to speak. Shoulda just left it at "I left because my LS sucked and gave me more grief that wasn't worth all the trouble." Keep at it champ

There have been times when I'd shout for like three hours and get one tell, and after sitting in a party with one other person for forty-five minutes, we'd both decide to give up. It has gotten harder to get through some things in the game just by relying on shout groups. I was very lucky to find a static to finish CoP with. I can't imagine trying to get sea now.

And it's okay Elwynn, I've felt much the same as you have when I was on my last few days of playing. It just got harder and harder to find the motivation to log in, and although I knew there was still a LOT I wanted to do with the game, I knew it would be harder and harder for me to find people to do those things with, and I just gave up and saved myself the frustration.

Last night i had my first Proto-Omega fight landing the kill shot with a 200+ Ice shot. Now that would be an accomplishment, if not the case of winning my first piece of homam gear, before the drop being sorted to me I was D2'd by one of the mages in the alliance. Everyone in the ls but myself have homam head, and it doesnt drop that often. Nor am I able to log in to all events due to work. just my luck :x

Pretty much one of the main reasons why I simply just stopped logging in to FFXI myself. I love the game but it's just too tedious and stressful to organise even a simple mission run half of the time.

With CoP I got as far as Prommy-Vahzl before giving up entirely. Idiot players who refuse to listen to the party leader's plan because it's either not a BLM burn or not on wiki and lazy players just not being prepared for the mission runs just made it too stressful to even look at CoP after my perma fell apart. You know your CoP pickup is doomed to fail when the following happens on a Prommy-Vahzl run:

Me: Before I tele us to Xarca, does everyone have their anima?
Even if you don't use them you can just sell them back so grab one of each. Heck if you don't want to spend the gil I'll buy them for you myself.
Party: *All say yes*
Me: Okay *casts Tele-Vazhl*
*Party goes through the Pso Xia dungeon, climbs tower*
*Battle starts, I organise anima rotation*
Me (mid battle): Okay [player] use your anima.
Pick up player: lul wut's an anime?
Me: *facepalm*
Party: *groans, gets wiped, nerdrages*
Pick up player: lul i thort wii only needz one eech!11

The perma falling apart again was due to one of the members not bothering to turn up to farming sessions and constantly harrassing the leader and then me once she had had enough and passed the leadership to me. This guy was arrogant, obnoxious and lazy, the kind of guy who doesn't turn up to farm sessions than bitches about the party not having enough Anmesia items for the BCNM. The kind of guy who nerdrages at the healers when people finish a mission fight or BCNM with orange health. The kind of guy who annoys the whole perma (even the two really calm, patient and kind grandfathers who rarely got mad at people, had only yelled at someone once or twice and would give you the shirt off their backs if they could. Their names are Kofi and Celticwarrior and I they have lead some of the most fun LS parties that I have ever been in) then ragequits when we confront him about not pulling his own weight then tries to undermine the leadership of the whole linkshell by constantly spreading nasty rumours about the sackholders (myself and the previous perma leader are both sackholders and got a lot of nasty things spread about it by that one guy).

I mean I love the game but I find that I just don't have any real motivation to log on. The game has just been far too stressful for me to really have fun and well if I'm not having fun I just don't see the point in logging back on unless something major goes on.

So I picked up ASA, been breezing through the missions and now I'm on the final mission, just have to beat Shantotto. I met this guy called Nebo for short, partway through the missions and we agree to do the rest of it together today. Well today comes, after awhile of shouting for it I finally get a party together, Whm, Rdm, Sam, Sam, Thf, Blu. Plan was to have the Thf grab and kite one of the Shantottos while we kill the other one, saving two hours and stuff for when the one we are killing rages and the other Shantotto comes over to help her.

Well, one of the Sam throws a hissy fit, saying it can't be done, yadda yadda, and then just sits there for awhile moving back and forth. When I ask him to go change to Sam and gear it up while we talk about strategy, note I am not saying no we are doing it my way, but I am only asking him to change his job while we talk, he drops from the party. Then Nebo drops from the party to join in another group who was going with 4x Smn, and the rest of the group falls apart because people didn't have time to rebuild the party.

THEN to top it off, Nebo sends me a /tell awhile later saying how they beat it and stuff.

W....T....F?

Seriously, what do you expect me to say to this man? We had a party and a plan that could have easily beaten this, and after I get one of my friends to come guide us through Temple of Ugly and Den of Rancor to help us get our key items, you drop from my party without saying a word on the day that we're going to beat this final mission? We agreed to do this together, I turned down an offer to do it earlier because I agreed to do it with YOU, and you were not on.

I would have been fine if you told me up front that you wanted to go with another group, that you changed your mind. But to suddenly drop from the party with no word? And then send me a /tell about how you beat the fight?

What kind of honorless low life does that?

Frankly it's not so much the missing out on the gear thing, in talking to him I thought he was a decent person and seeing as how he was without a LS, I was thinking about giving him a pearl to mine. I'm more disappointed at his conduct than anything else.

Rams where, in the Highlands? They either spawn near the Crag, or near the zone to the Dunes there. The ones in La Theine have a HUGE spawn range, I camped them for around 4 hours to get the Horn from the NM for the Purple Belt quest. Trying to hunt rams without a large Wide Scan is pretty ridiculous, I tried it and took awhile to find em.

Yup, hunting Battering Rams in La Theine. Spent about a half hour running around without even spotting one and just decided to log and come back later.

Hard to find anything more to griipe about that hasn't already been brought up in this thread. However......Why the heck is there no "Level UP" animation & message if you level up doing a FOV? I was hoping they would fix it in this latest update. But no such luck. It was especially disheartening when I ding'd 75 DRK while doing a FOV.

Don't worry, you're not missing much. The only thing your DRK will be invited to now after 75 is SKY/SEA/HNMs etc for your stun lol and that's if your LS'es are nice. Otherwise, they'll make you come BLM SAM RDM WHM BRD CORetcetcetc..... you might get the occasional Meripo... but they'll ask you if you have WAR or SAM first. lollermuffin

Course, if your DRK gets KClub, you'll be hotter than Jessica Simpson in a bikini, washing a red corvette, eatting a lollipop. XD

I can't go to the event unless I organize the run.

This really sucks for less popular stuff that I want to try like Garrison or Eco Warrior.
