Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Man if someone DoT me to death, I must admit I would be pretty pissed off, I had a fight VS PUP/DNC one day as DRG/SAM uncapped at 75 and surprisingly I beat the pup. He did have this annoying move that whenever I WS he switched the attack to his automaton.

Either way once I got in a real good penta, he went down pretty fast especially when I ignored the Automaton the entire fight.

I need to do more Ballista to see where I match up against others jobs though.

Though if you want to be a jerk in Ballista you'll go Mage/BLM or BLM/RDM and Bind+DoT someone to death.
That is EXACTLY what I did with my whm at the 30 cap. It was funny at how much he got pissed, especially since I was able to spam silence on him too lol.

Callisto: I am leveling Rdm, but that is for just for fun. Rdm/Nin I am also leveling whm for parties as no one seems to know the true potential of a melee rdm -.-;

Odjnlinus: If you are on the alexander server, look up Takelli or Mitratis. I am on fairly often, and I can get you into the ballista.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Still stuck at 32SCH, coming up on a month now...if I wasn't playing other games while lfg I could have likely gotten to 37 just from Streetsweeper by now. 2 invites tonight, one from an RMT 50THF/15WAR, and one legit one that dragged me out to the Citadel then promptly disbanded before fighting anything. 2nd Anni Band charge out of 10 completely wasted because of parties doing that. Fun.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

BRDs who act like Gods gift to FFXI, even if they don't know how to play the job.

Was leveling my MNK with a friend in Qufim Island last night when our COR left and we replaced him with a BRD who I knew would be a pain in the ass from the start, but the leader of course says "He's a BRD, who cares?"

When he got to the party, I checked him to see what gear he had.. a NQ Instrument and 2 MP Rings, that's it. So I told the leader and once again.. "Who cares, aslong as he sings lol"

My friend (THF) was pulling originally and then the BRD/WHM just started randomly pulling with Threnody even when the THF announced that he was pulling a mob back.

After we dealt with this idiot dying 4 times in half an hour, we kicked him. Only for him to return 15 minutes later as 41 WAR/BST to camp ontop of us, charming everything we go to claim.

Wanna know the worst part? He'll probably ding 75 before me and my THF friend. Because he's a BRD.

Sounds like you should have made a GM call.

Anyhow...

* RDMs who skill up Enhancing with Barspell spam... in "public" areas... like right on top of the Lower Jeuno auction house? WTF?

If you're not going to do it outside of a MH because you have Refresh, then go to some obscure corner of an outdoor zone. Not to mention that you skill up much faster by throwing Protects on NPCs in Besieged, or even in a party on a level 75, than by casting on yourself. (This particular RDM was level 64.) At least it's much harder for SMNs to do this in a city area.

* BCs with no "lobby" in the same zone
* Reraise effect (the effect, not the buff) wearing off when you get yanked out of a zone, such as from the 3 minute "everybody-KO" timer in a BC without a lobby (it also happened on my 3rd promy fight when someone hit the crate the moment the fight ended, before I had a chance to get up)
* Main-line quest/mission fights in a BC with no lobby that don't waive the XP penalty

Any one of the three could be fixed and I'd be much happier. It's all three of them together that's the problem. Or just simply don't remove the RR status icon until you answer the yes/no question. Which would also remove the "did my RR wear off?" suspense while waiting for the yes/no question to pop up.

In this case, it was "A Manifest Problem", the "Yagudo zerg you" fight from WotG. The first time through, my BLM lost 3600 xp because I reraised, got instant aggro, then had to HP. I said screw that, switched to WHM, and R3'd the other person in my group. Then we failed again, because I was still trying to -aga them and getting way too much hate. I had to HP again, but my WHM was capped, so 2400 more xp didn't hurt as much, but I was really NOT happy that my RR3 was completely fucking useless because of the "no lobby" problem and the instant re-aggro. (Then I found someone else dead outside the BC, correctly guessed he was on the same fight, and we all pwned the yags by MEREE ONRY.)

But at least I made sure that the other folks got an R3.

I hate when I run into rdms doing that. I usually spam protect on the mules that are sitting in lower jeuno that are selling stuff. I just spam, run out, zone into the Mh, zone out, and restart.

I HATE trying to level enchancing magic, but it helps so much with SS, and Enspells :D 24 extra dmg per attack round? {Yes, Please}. (Rdm/Nin So fun :D )

Oh yeah that's right... you don't have to be in the same party to cast protect or shell... and there are plenty of level 75s just idling. (You can't cast non-ra barspells on anyone else anyhow.) Still, I wouldn't like waking up after a night of idling in Rolanmart only to find my chat log full of spam.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

So there was somebody in my LS who somewhat known for botting ladybugs in West Ronfaure (S). When he disappeared for a few days, he came back and said he had gone on vacation. Turns out he was lying and that he got temporarily banned as a warning.

Days later, he's doing it again and now he's permanantly banned. Seriously, how Goddamn stupid can you possibly be....duuuuur..

I said "Rolanmart". Not Jeuno. You know, Rolanberry Fields right outside Jeuno? Some servers still have a mule bazaar there.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

This is more of a general gaming peeve, but it fits here well enough.

When you tell someone you're struggling with something, and you ask for their help. Just a few pointers, you know? And they go, "OMG it's so EASY, you just do..."

Okay, shut the hell up. It's clearly not "SO EASY" if I'm struggling so much with it. Ever had anyone talk down to you when you were trying to do something you found hard and you couldn't quite get the hang of it? Stop being so condescending. If I ask you for your help, that means that I've found something to be difficult. Pouring salt on my wounds by declaring how easy it is will not win you any points.

And don't get pissed when I call you out on being condescending. I'm already frustrated that I can't do it, so now you want to frustrate me further? I don't think that's a great idea there sparky. Just be helpful, stop being a douche.

Also, WoW peeve (yes I know it doesn't belong here, shut it), jousting. FFFFFFFFUUUUUUU-

I guess it's easy in the same way your Nyzul advice makes it easy ... if you have great gear, difficulty tends to drop markedly.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Had nothing to do with gear, like I said wasn't even a part of FFXI at all. Was an offline game. I'd rather not discuss which game or why, but it annoyed me that I couldn't master it and I was getting frustrated and he's just sitting there telling me how easy it is. (The Nyzul thing was a complete joke, people take everything I say way out of context ; ; and I quit Nyzul anyway.)

Then ... "Want me to do it for you?" in that patronizing tone. No, I want to figure it out, and I want you to calmly give me some tips instead of telling me how much of a retard I am for not being able to do it.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Looking for a party as rdm.

I wil go out and solo as Rdm/Nin with my flag up when I do not feel like making a party. I put in my seacom: {Support job} {Anything}! And I can play for 3-5 days as that and not get an invite, even with the Seacom up.

But, as soon as I sub whm onto my rdm, I literally get spammed for invites into parties. Don't people even bother to check seacoms? Or do they go by the job you are subbing while seeking? There are people who do change their sub when they go into a party. :/
