lol. After years of playing blm, and nuking mobs from afar and up close...I've never noticed a difference in the amount of hate generated proportional to the distance from a mob. It's the same, no matter where I stand.

I'm not sure what Omgwtfbbqkitten is trying to say, but I do know there is a radius in which your enmity towards the monster is not a strong factor. I use this knowledge when converting (I run up a bit out of ranged attack radius from mob and DS+Cure IV after Convert) and have not seen even a small increase in enmity.

However, there's no such thing as "gradual" enmity increase/decrease with respect to distance from mob. That to me is a fallacy.

Also, Corthaemus, you're a BLM. If you went out of this enmity radius, you'd receive an error message that you're too far away from the monster and that you're not in attack range.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Ok, this just happened, so it's probably why I'm so annoyed with it.

Do not randomly pass me leader and say "Hey, you're leader, so find some new people." for crying out loud! If I wanted to lead a party, I wouldn't have sat there with my flag up and a search comment. And if you are leaving suddenly, at least ASK who would like leader before just passing it like that.

It was a stupid party anyway, and everyone but me had died a few moments ago to undead aggro, so I didn't feel bad about leaving it in frustrating, but for crying out loud.

Then the old leader sent me nasty tells that I couldn't respond to because he logged out.

My pet peeve?

I was manaburning all the way out in Wajaom Woodlands. XP was flowing, and we had a steady pace going. We were going on for about 2 hours, then we linked not one, but 2 puks. Suffice to say, the entire party got wiped. Me along with 2 other members HPed and half of the party quit, so I said that we should disband. Before one of the members quit, she said that a paladin was going to rise, then she went afk shortly after, so I didn't have the chance to ask the pld's name.

So what do I do? As stupid as I am, I believe her and wait for the raise while taking care of stuff in Jeuno. I'm constantly assuring the party that the pld is going to come raise them, and what I don't understand is why they didn't hp just like I did......I sacrificed xp and half of the party left, so I suppose they expect me to come back and raise them.

Before you know it, the JP in my party makes comments to me:

You {Party}{Leader}BAD{Impossible to gauge}{That's too bad}

Last time I take someone else's word on something. -.-

That is annoying. It takes as long to say <name> is coming to raise, as <job> is coming to raise. Geez.

Things can get crazy, I understand. It still seems to me that 5-6 people with sleepga two could handle a couple links. I wasn't there though so I shouldn't say anything

How is manaburning there anyway? I've only manaburned on the puddings, which was really good.

Puks are excellant for manaburning. We had no problem sleeping them, and we had a bard creating an ice weakness on them. Just about everytime, we killed it in one shot. ^^

Well, I was mostly commenting on the 'or nuking' aspect of the post. Hate being less for curing yourself outside of ranged attack radius, makes more sense.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

pet peeves

1. Looking at peoples rank when determining whether to invite them to pt. I've had more then a handfull of friends stay at rank 6 or 7 with a few 75 jobs. Also alot of oldies(as we call them) restart from another server. Even I had restarted on a new server only to get into pt (as thf) with no sub rank two and have this rank 10 person "mt" into party "They leaving the rank 2 person with no sub to pull." And everyone seems to complain about noobs needing to learn their jobs when they won't invite them into to pt to give them the chance. I've had more then enough experience pulling but since my new chara was only rank 2 guess it's automatically assumed I can't pull.

2.People telling me some JP stole w/e they were camping and that's why the wanted to quit the game or that's why they hate JPs. WTF I say everyone camps the same things F**K there's even HNMLs for that matter. When you camp something it's the luck of the draw. RMT camping something now that's something to get pissed about.

3. Constant complaining on gear. I've pt'd with a rank 7 person who wore the bathing suit top to exp.. guess what nothing was said about that. But if they were say rank 3 or something most likely in about five linkshells screens this would flash across /ls this noobs gear sucks.

4.Over all pet peeve. Complaining about noobness or newbness however you want to spell it. No one started on the game experiened and at rank 10 with a few lvl 75's on the game. When I firsted started I didn't even know how to logout W!. I shouted and someone told me, (;>_<) a shame I still can remember that. Someones pet peeve was not adventuring well I can say I've spent most days recently not adventuring. Most days I sit in jeuno/whitegate waiting to hear ppl shout for help so I can go help them. I've had one lvl 75 help me out alot when I was a noob. That made me always help cuz he told me we all had to start somewhere and he said he hoped when I had enough lvl and rank enough to help someone I would.

5. And bad english=RMT. I speak a few languages and know for a fact german, french and chinese( actucall gamers ) play. I've had a chinese friend who played spoke some horrible english everyone assumed she was a gilseller and she had a really hard time getting pt so I believe she quit.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

Actually, I just thought of one. It's not an FFXI peeve, but a forum peeve.

dramasticly, dramastically, or anything similar

Contrary to poular belief, it is not a word! It is the bastard hybrid of "dramatically" and "drastically." You cannot combine them to try and form a new super word.

I've seen it used in many instances.

"I finally got X item. I went to sell it and I found that it dramastically dropped in price."

The word here should be drastically. There was no drama involved in the price dropping. It's not like the previous sellers shouted in Lower Jeuno that the world was ending and that they were planning to sell their Morion Tathlums for cheap so they can get off of the planet before it explodes. That would be dramatic. Silly, but dramatic.

"Y player dropped his pearl today after whining about nobody helping him and accusing half the linkshell of RMT. I'm not surprised that he quit the linkshell so dramastically."

No, he quit the linkshell dramatically. He put on a little show for everyone to see, hoping to get sympathy and possibly some butt-kissers. Varying degrees of quitting do not exist, there is only "I quit" and "I do not quit." You can, however, be promoted drastically.

Please use real words and not silly, made-up, hybrid words.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

The only time I ever complain about someones gear is if they are wearing items that don't even make sense to be wearing on their job to the point where it would seem they are trying too hard to not have halfway decent gear. I.E. A THF in Garlaige exp wearing +1 charisma rings and starter gear or something(I actually have seen this, they also had no idea how to play THF ~_~)... I mean sure not everyone is rich but damn come on its not that hard to get gear that at least makes sense to wear lol.
