1d10t is best used when spoken during on-site tech support. "Hey, boss. Yup, got everything taken care of. Just a standard eye-dee-ten-tee error. Yup, another one. Uh huh."

Pet peeve: Music at the char select screen or POL in general. Usually in game I turn music off so I can listen to my own songs but when switching charachters or getting dc's having to listen to the FFXI themes overlapping my current selection is irritating! >_> |

My Mood: | Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Wow, so many good ones on this list. Let me add mine: 1. I know this has been said already (a while back), but melees who bug me for a Dispel when the mob hasn't buffed itself. These same melees spam {Dispel} fifteen god-damned times (language, I know, but seriously) and so I finally cast the spell, waste my MP just to shut them the hell up, and get the "BLAH BLAH BLAH no effect BLAH BLAH" crap. <Aksannyi> >.< Dispel had no effect <Idiot1> buff must have worn then, u were 2 slow noob <Idiot2> yeah pay attention <Aksannyi> How about the mob never buffed itself in the first place? But you know, that brings me to point #2: 2. You can't tell some people anything. Nothing at all, because they KNOW IT ALL ALREADY! These people make me want to rip my hair out of my head whilst beating my head against a brick wall and scratching my fingernails down a chalkboard. I hate people who think they know everything. 3. People who think you suck because you messed up one time. I'm good at my job, but I'm human and I do screw up. Sometimes I might Refresh in the wrong order because I'm caught off guard or whatever. Maybe I accidentally hit my Bio macro (>.<), Perhaps I miss the MB (although more often than not I am too busy to bother with it anymore). Just because I made one little mistake that a. didn't cost anyone's life, and b. probably won't happen again does not mean that I am a crappy RDM, or any other job for that matter. 4. People who get mad when you're lagging. It's not something I can help, I don't run background applications but sometimes your internet just sucks. Yes, so your Refresh might be a few seconds late. I'm trying. (And usually during downtime I will log to see if I can fix the problem.) 5. People who spam in shout without waiting any time in between. You know: <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k <Loudmouth> : {Teleport-Dem} {Can I have it?} {Please invite me.} 2k GEEZ, man, give other people a chance to say something. Let alone invite you! Most people will at least wait a few seconds before hitting the macro again. 6. People who newbie-bash. We were all newbs once, there's no reason to make the new guy feel like an idioit because he asked a question. I find this often in the Dunes, the newb asks a question and gets bashed for being dumb. You're not dumb if you never learned it to begin with. 7. Also, people who bash newbs when they mess up. Especially something as minor as a skillchain. In the dunes. How many of us knew how to skillchain at that level? Give the newbies a break. 8. People who should know better who screw up the skillchain by using their weapon skill at the wrong moment. I'm talking about the guy who's not a part of the skillchain using his ws. Why in the hell do you think they bother using macros and calls? 9. People who screw up the magic burst by using their weapon skill after the skillchain, causing another chain and negating the spell I just cast. 10. The bazaars with 99,999,999 in them, and nothing else. As a frequent bazaar checker, I frigging hate opening one up and not seeing anything for sale. That's great, you're a level 20 THF and you have all of the elemental staves. I don't care if it's for your WHM main. Put that crap on a mule or something. It's minor, I know, but it irritates me when I open a bazaar and there's nothing there. I don't care what kind of uber-leet gear you have and are not yet wearing. 11. Couples. GO OUT AND MEET REAL PEOPLE! Unless you know each other in real life and are actually dating, stop! And even if you DO know each other, canoodle in person, not in-game. Unless you live 1500 miles away or something, but even then, keep it private. 12. Helping someone out and not getting thanked. 13. Not being able to help someone and getting cussed out. 14. Synthing 11 of something perfectly, have 1 of each item and crystal left to synth the final item for your stack, and failing, and losing at least one item. So now I can't sell the 11 items, I have 2 or more single items hanging out in my inventory, and I've got to try to buy a single item of something that probably is only on the AH in stacks. That's just my stinking luck. 15. Gil sellers. 16. Gil buyers. 17. People who get banned for using windower and then bitch, even though they know it is against the ToS. 18. Seeing someone with a gimped sub LFP. 19. Trying to kindly offer help and/or advice and getting told where to stick it. 20. (Okay, I guess I'll just do 20 for now) Being asked by my husband to PL him. Just because I'm a 54 RDM and have my WHM up to 38 does not mean that I'm going to spend my time healing you for lousy healing magic skillups. And just because we are married does not mean that I'm under obligation to PL you. Argh, I could go on forever ...

I agree with everything stated so far, especially the RDM comments. And then I read through 9 pages of posts, and the very last one had the pet peeve I thought was only mine! Quote:
That's really nice that someone gave you Heart Chocolate for Valentine's Day. I have over 2 dozen roses, myself. They are in my Mog House where I can look at them every time I come home from another adventure. I keep them there for me to enjoy, not to trick the rest of the server into looking at them. Ok, so you don't want to accidently drop that piece of gear you camped so long to get. I understand that. I suggest putting in your Mog Safe. That's what it's there for, to keep your stuff SAFE. If you are doing it just to brag, then you are being an ass. Now I am doubly pissed at you for making me look. And one more thing-- I saw this one already, but it needs to be said again. Please stop curing over my Regen. It will heal people. I promise. | |

QFT. Regen is a minor issue. If someone cures over it, well, next time the cured person is hit, regen gets to work again. I can live with it. But to be honest...999999999999 gil bazaars annoy me too. In protest of them, I have an elshimo frog in my bazaar for an insanely high price. 1337 frog ftw, bishes. I also have a goblin die, but there's a reason I'm trying to sell a goblin die for one million gil, and it involves stupid people so you can't say it wont' happen XD I used to have an Ose whisker and light gauntlets, but people bought them. I think I"ll sell my dryad root there next.

I feel like bumping this thread. It's pretty useful anyway. Diabolos. See that? I'll try again. Diabolos. Diabolos. Diabolos. Not Diablos. Diabolos. Diablos <-------------<<< (flaming arrow of death and destruction) .......... Yeah, that's about it for now. Oh, I have one but it's more of a funny story than a pet peeve. Last night I was in Garliage Citadel leveling BLM and all of the sudden I see a /shout 16NIN lfp please invite me. ...rofl. After his second shout both me and another person informed him of his error. I told him this place was just a bit too high for him, and to come back around level 32. Either they've never leveled there before, someone misinformed them, or they got war to 30 and was PLed through the NIN quest and utsusemi farming. Personally, I'm for the third one.

I only have one really major pet peeve, and that is when I go out of my way on my lvl 75 to help someone do something knowing full well how to do something and they don't listen to me and get themselves or other people killed. I guess similarly I asked for help doing the PLD jobquest on my taru mule... you know going through Davoi. I knew I could solo it but someone else was there doing it with a lvl 70 drk, so hey i figure just to be safe I'd join them. They start by going the wrong way and I try to tell them theres a way easier way then going all th way through davoi, but the drk told me I was a n00b and to stfu,,, about 3 minutes later I was at the well bymyself solo and they got themselves killed >_>; I guess my pet peeve is when people don't listen to me when I am right :p

Another thing that really irks me is when I'm in a party and member #4 gets on member #3's ass because he doesn't have the +1 version of random equip #17, even when member #3 consistently outdamages member #4 and is good at his job. Last but not least, the number one thing that really annoys me..Is when my WHM heals me while I'm trying to gather hate in the start of a fight. WHMs are my best buddies ingame, and my static WHM is great, but she cares too much. Even after talking to her about it, she still lays on the healing when my HP drops down right where I want it to be. Quote:

#1 - Getting asked to help form a party, then getting passed leader while the other guy goes afk. {Huh?!} Then getting bitched at when I disband. What the hell did you think I would do, have a slacker like you in my party? #2 - People who d/c instead of saying {I'm sorry} {I'm sleepy} or whatever.. seriously, how friggin hard is it to ask for a replacement and logout normally? #3 - Parties that don't listen to the leader. For better or worse, they are leading, not you. Form your own party if you want to lead, and conversley #4 - Leaders that don't lead parties, in fact don't give any directions at all. If you don't want to lead, then seek. #5 - Being the only mage in a party. Meleeburn is for later ok? Not too bad by itself, but it generally goes like this... being expected to main heal (fine, that's why I'm here) and enfeeble (what is it that you do carry around with you Mr 'I have no tools' Ninja?) and dispel (you could have picked different mobs Mr Leader) while hasting everyone (and here was me thinking I'd save MP from less refreshes) and keeping links slept (pull your head outta your arse Mr Fisherman), ok, I'm still barely managing, then Mr Puller decides he can't read an MP bar... (x_X)*O==(^.^Q) #6 - Blind invites. I thought they would stop at the dunes.. why do I even bother making a search comment anyway? Even when the invites not blind, I get requests for my tnl, subjobs, you name it.. it's in my seacom fools! #7 - 15 minute replacement parties. If your party is breaking up, end it, don't invite someone to have the party disband after one kill. Yes one. #8 - Replaced on the way to party. Pure hilarity. I stop farming/camping/whatever, head back to my moghouse to change subs and get some food & gear & whatever, grab a tele/choco etc. I get to the zone, /t that I've arrived and what happens? 'Oh sorry we have six now'... you could have told me before I wasted my time and gil.. quickest (and so far only) way to my /blist. #9 - People who criticize things that have nothing to do with them, the party or anything of relevance, like the weapon my NPC uses. That has no bearing on anything or anyone but myself. I like G.Katana, so what if another weapon is 'better'? I'm sure you took the time to equip your NPC with every avaliable weapon combo and tested them yourself to find that out.. oh wait, you mean it's just some bullshit unsubstantiated rumour? Heres one for you genius, name a better weapon to skillchain with. #10 - Comlplaining makes my head hurt. So I'll stop now. oh wait... Quote:

My Mood: | Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I posted some before, but here's my biggest one of all. Pet Peeve #1 : People who give job advice from an endgame standpoint. If someone comes to a job forum, they're new to the job and asking for advice. Help them with what they're asking about Yet, somehow, either from the start of the replies or somewhere in the middle, endgame somehow bleeds into the discussion. I ask you, why? How is this helping anyone? Talking about the subs/gear used for endgame has little relevance to how a job is played before endgame levels. Stop stroking your ego, give some relevant advice instead. Half of the bad subjobs you see people using are practically spawned from endgame forum advice, it creates noobs. The newb thinks "Well, if its good for endgame, then it must be great at every level of the game" and so they evolve into a noob WAR/THF, RDM/DRK or COR/WHM at level 15 and they make PT hell because they're not playing their jobs effectively. Either that, or the endgame advice gives these people a cop-out so they don't have to level a proper sub. Subjobs have a place at certain levels of the game, the are not all great from level 1 onward. Stop talking about endgame gear the new person is months away from obtaining or using, help them by showing what they can access now or very soon to enhance their jobs. Furthermore, if you're reading a forum, have a 75 job or two and find yourself giving advice or commenting on a job you don't play, please do us all a favor - shut up. I don't go to SMNs for advice on COR, so why would a SMN feel obligated to make comments on job dynamics and performance they don't really understand? I've seen 75 BLMs talk about how DRGs performance drops at a certain level... and they don't have the job unlocked. Please, shut up, you don't know what you're talking about. But guess what? The newbs think you do know what you're talking about and people in endgame who think they're giving sound advice are totally misleading them. Remember when people used to say "WAR is just a subjob?" I do. That load of BS was a popular line of reasoning when RNG was the premire DD of the game, anything less than RNG was gimp and WAR and MNK hardly saw invites. My, how times change and the people who once considered WAR subpar and now kneeling before WARs. One little nerf changed a lot of hearts in endgame. Now RNG is the one suffering from exaggerated noob-endgamer "advice" and is "subpar." lol Really, make up your minds. I can only wonder where loyalties will shift if WAR and MNK got nerfed. |
