FFXI isn't limited to cap or an end-game per say. When SE learns what the hell it is doing, maybe one day they'll realize their dream and have it be as they want it. No not a Cheap shot, Our opinions are rather alike, But I love to poke peoples eyes out and do silly things, SE and Sony tend to cater more to "fanboys" than other companies do. Simply because of the almighty dollar/Yen/Euro. Square did a brave thing with the Spirits within, They did a brave thing with FF1, they Did a Brave thing with FFXI, I havent seen many Brave things from Square/Square-Enix, in quite awhile.
I do agree with you on that.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

I'm sure it won't be the last expansion, and SE gives support as they could, more support to the japanese because *gasp* it's a japanese game..and it's always easier to support your home country then any other, remember SE is a Video Game company, not a hospital, they can't cater to your every needs -.-

Other then that, if they stop PS2 support, they can expand and change FFXI in so many ways, it is a very different MMORPG that has ever came out, especially being across soo many platforms, I'd expect if they could move FFXI to PS3, bigger and better things will happen to the game, which will probably attract even more users to play..so I don't think as said, FFXI will be going anywhere soon.

Re: The future of FFXI at E3

I pray that the PS3 picks up on FFXI.

I doubt that S-E will ever just dump the PS2 without some form of alternative. The problem with phasing out the PS2 is that a large percentage of the Japanese player base plays on PS2. The Xbox360 is not much of an alternative for the Japanese player population because it is widely reguarded as an NA ONRY consol.

If the PS3 picks up FFXI, and supports all the HD bells and wistles, it would be easy to encourage that large number of Japanese players to give up their outdated PS2 systems and change to a new consol with a familiar brand.
