A question for those who are currently playing the PS2 Version...

Approximately how long it take for you to setup all the necessary things with PlayOnline, etc.?

So, from the time you opened to package to the time you had everything set up and ready to go online with FFXI, how long did it take?

I dont have the game but I know someone who dose.It dose not take a long time.If you have the Hardware you sould already have that set up before you get FFXI.To make things sort it dose not take that long

Any approximate time? I just remember hearing from like IGN or something when they got the Beta or the Real Game that it took like 3 hours to set up. It sounded way too long, but I guessed that, hell, you are putting the whole game on the HDD and PlayOnline is a new thing.

Do you know approximately how long? 1 hour? 2 hours? Not even an hour?

I think it will depend on how fast you are when you are installing every thing.Ok it took my friend a couple of houres.

Ok, for me it'll probably be 2 - 2 1/2 I'd guess, because I'm really careful when I'm inputting all my stuff, haha.

Yeah me too XDanteX I am very carefull too.But there is a process in the installing when you have to wait a hour in a half

Ah, I gotcha. Like the party where the game has to copy itself onto the HDD, most likely. 4 GBs of data doesn't move so quick, hehe.

Mine took me about 3 - 4 hours.....besides copying the entire disk onto the harddrive and spending time on registration, I still had to download the updates which took quite a while. So its about that long from when you open the box till when you actually get to play the game.

Depending on your connection speed and how fast you can input all the data required, it can take anywhere from an hour and a half to four hours - an hour and a half being that you install all the software very quickly and finish registration in ten minutes.

Here are some misc. times that might be interesting - these are the sequences that you must perform:
Install HDD and BBA - 5 - 10 minutes
Format HDD and install BBNavigator - 30 minutes
Reboot - 5 minutes
Install PlayOnline - 25 minutes (at least - this includes setting up your connection and installing the software)
Reboot - 5 minutes
Register for PlayOnline - Depends. Took me 30 minutes. Could take 10 minutes.
Install FFXI - 25 minutes
Reboot - 5 minutes
Download updates for PlayOnline - 20 minutes on a broadband, 600kbps connection
Reboot - 5 minutes
Download updates for FFXI - 1 hour and 15 minutes on a broadband, 600kbps connection
Register a Contents ID - 5 minutes (at most...)

The total time there is 4 hours. That's taking your time, too.
