If someone said that to me I wouldn't know if I could stop laughing long enough to boot them from the party and get someone who knows what they're talking about . Please tell me that the BRD insisted on going /NIN too. It's hard to find BRD who knows what they're doing anyway but it would make my day if you say that a BRD actually thought that going /NIN was a good idea against a Puk NM

Ummm ya know, /NIN is extremely useful for survivability in that ISNM. Many a time I have seen a DRG/SAM or DRK/SAM bite the dust within the first 4 mins of that ISNM because they get their faces ripped off when the Puk spawns its clones. Bash /NIN all you want, the survivability granted by utsu: ichi and utsu: ni makes Seigan/Third Eye look laughable at best. Do I like it? Not at all, but I'd rather /NIN and survive than dish out e-peen numbers only to get my faced ripped off.

A Shantoto Ascension: 1/1 on all synths: got help from the guild everytime and faced East... Alchemy 6 and Woodworking 3 ...I think. Then proceeded thru past the mission where you kill a bunch of SMN mobs in the Fenrir area... The group of people I was with was 2 buddies and everyone else was picked up in the areas we were trying to complete missions in. Ended up being a very skillful group. Think I have one fight left. Furthest I've gone in any of the mini-spansions.

First Temenos run (Limbus) ... got me 5 coins and now know what I should lot for, lol. I need to maybe talk them into farming a Yovra or two for me too.

Got another Dyna-Xarc run (no clear) under the belt... since I got my relic Dnc gearz and now only have Sam relic to acquire, I'm struggling to find a reason to stay with Dyna once I get the Dreamlands cleared (only need Qufim to reach Tav) ... as SAM relic pretty much sux.

I can tell you many reasons you won't /SAM. However, I'll stick with the one that encompasses all others.

1. Damage Mitigation: This will involve every situation. During almost every single end-game activity you will be expected to/need to sub NIN. This will keep you from pulling hate, becoming an MP sponge, and/or dying. There will be approximately a couple situations when you will need to zerg, at which time you will be expected to die as well, and you can /SAM. If you do decide to /SAM for any other situation, you will pull hate and most likely fail your party. If you don't pull hate while /SAM you're most likely doing something wrong

SAM can /WAR instead of NIN more often because they have tons more damage mitigation (and not +hate abilities/subtle blow/etc) than a DRK, not to mention the EVA difference...

Not one DD in my LS subbed NIN for anything, not HNMs, not Dynamis, not Limbus, nothing. If your support isn't slacking (keeping Hastes up, removing status effects, keeping songs up) you shouldn't have any issues killing fast enough to the point that you'd need /NIN.

Then again, some people in this game are far too stupid for a more offensive sub.

Sam/war defensive abilities:

Seigan + Third Eye
Defender (woohoo)

Drk/sam defensive abilities:

Seigan + Third Eye
Drain I/II
Dread Spikes

Would one count Absorb Acc/TP defensive in nature?

Regardless, anyone who is lvl 75 and /Sam has the full defensive aspect of a lvl 75 Sam/War, or probably /anything other than /Nin.

And no, there is no point in looking at only the "Endgame" aspect of it, because events isn't the only thing going on. There are a ton of merits to gain and a ton of exp to regain once you start doing events and such. /Sam and /Nin are going to vary person to person and group to group.
