Did you get to do the fight as PLD?

PLD/DRK is really fun for it...I actually love that fight, the BC has the best music in the game IMO, if not maybe tied with the final ACP BC music.

Yeah, I tried /NIN up close at first but that didn't go that well. I then went PLD/RDM with Earth Staff. Probably would've helped a lot to have /DRK, but alas, I don't have it levelled.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the fight. It was a real challenge. I was scared to death and grinding my teeth the whole 30 minutes it took us to whittle down that thing. There were so many times that one more Radiant Sacrament would've finished me if it weren't for the mages dutifully Curing me in time and doing everything in their power to cycle through resting and healing in order to keep going. My Balrahn's Ring was hard-earned and I'm proud to have it, even if the rest of ToAU was pretty lulz.

But I'm still peeved at how FFXIClopedia often leaves out significant details like those.

A lot of strategies for mission BCs just haven't been updated since they were initially posted there. There were countless times when my g/f was doing ZM/CoP where she read FFXIClopedia then came to me shitting bricks thinking the fights were super hard, and I had to explain that when some of those things were written, especially ZM, people A) didn't have the caliber of gear/merits they do now, B) people knew less about what are now common game mechanic and strategy tricks/exploits and C) 2-hand DDs, PLD, and WHM are all somewhat broken now compared to how they were at the time.

Oh well yeah. I usually expect that sort of thing, especially with older content. I don't expect the strategies to be up to date. What peeves me isn't really the strategies section, it's just when they leave out pretty significant details in the mob's behavior or an attack's properties. They list Radiant Sacrament like it's just another TP move so I was expecting just spells (maybe at an accelerated rate) and a random TP attack every 20-30 secs. Not, you know, Radiant Sacrament every 6-8 in addition to the spells and TP moves. As if that didn't make it obvious enough, Astral Flows are always the first TP move to occur after an avatar goes below 50%, but it can still Radiant Sacrament you without having AF'd. If I hadn't brought that Earth Staff, we would've been boned.

The Ark Angels were similar. I tried to solo one for the lulz just to see how long I'd last. I went pretty pale when I saw EV open up the fight with Dominion Slash from across the room as soon as I claimed with Dia II. That's a pretty big indicator that it's not using TP for it. But I can forgive that one, because it's inconsequential to the fight; it's not like they use their unique WS every 10 secs, and it's not like having 8+ melees banging on a mob doesn't already cause a TP move spam.

But eh. Oh well. I edited the Wiki already, and these complaints are better suited to the Pet Peeve thread. So yeah. ToAU44 complete, sweet fight, go me!

Divine Might DONE! Daaaaamn that was a fun fight. Didn't really need any of the earrings.. so I picked the Abyssal for a +1 INT and +5 Dark Magic boost to my BLM.

Yeah, when I did it we won with less than a minute left on the clock too. We had to zerg the Tarutaru with only like 4 people not weakened. Somehow I managed not to die once (I was main tanking purely because I was the only PLD there without fast pants.) But there were at least 3 times I truly feared for my life.

Because of Radiant Sacrament, I did the fight both times as PLD/WAR. Physical damage, so Defender seemed natural. MDB from /RDM would have been helpful for Eyes on Me, though.

Was loaded with MP restoratives, so the Alexander portion (which was an endurance fight) was actually easier than the Raubahn portion--wish my Vorpal Blade can put out damages like that. Raubahn required fast response from healers to keep tank alive. HP food helped, too.
