Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

I must say I'm surprised. I figured prices would drop maybe a mil at most, and then settle in at that price point. Scorp Harness was 7~8mil before Christmas, I think it's 12mil now. Friend bought a Haubergeon mid-January for 13.5mil. And I see you guys mentioning prices dropping at a pretty decent rate. (Of course the things I want aren't dropping! lol Elemental Torque, Elvaan RSE hands & Feet, etc

Now let's hope the Peacock Charm drops from 40mil to about 10mil. LOL

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

Well, while it's good that SE took a nuke to the gil sellers, it's still a bandaid solution :|

I'm interested to see if they'll try to address the problem with ToA though...

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

This shows how much "gil selling" effects our economy, at least I think it does. This is ridiculous, prices are dropping 2-3m on high priced stuff a day or less. SH is almost back to normal already.

I know, come next November, I'm going to buy all the high priced items and sell them when the end of December/early January comes around, because if I remember correctly this same thing happened a year ago, just not as drastic.

I'm just praying that once gil selling sites get their gil back into stock that prices will go back up to the prices there were. I dunno if I can take so much market fluctuation.

The key to solving it is to change the game in such a way that "gil selling" can't affect the economy. Unfortunately this is easier said than done

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

I noticed on several gil selling sites prices went 2-3x more around the time SE announced the RMT measure. This has hurt the gilsellers and has forced the people buying gil to slow down or not be able to afford it. This overall has delt a major blow to Gillsellers.

1). All the items they have yet to sell go for 2-3x less now.
2). Also the value of gil has came back up. Meaning there gil to dollor ratio is srinking.
3). They have lost alot of there buyers due to fear of the users account being banned and the gil prices riseing.

I don think this is going to be just a short fix. This has hit Gilsellers hard, They will recover yes, But its the same as if the stock market was reset, all current value was lost. I am glad I sold alot of my crap a few weeks ago tho ^^. I was makeing nice money even underselling stuff I had before the MoDF (Month of December Inflation).

Emm no... Things don't work that way

It's all about emotions right now. People are seeing news and reacting to it, either cashing in or cashing out.

It will take a while before we see what is the result.

If I decide to flood shihei with 50 1k shihei's it would have the single largest drop. But No one can do that and profit, so once I stop flooding, things will jump again.

Things like this create more chaos then it makes in reality.

I guess people pushed SE into a very crude method(imo)...no one like jumping prices, nobody.

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

What doesn't work that way? There's far more going on than just "emotions". If you don't think gil sellings site aren't the cause then what the hell happened at Christmas? Was that just emotions to? While I'm sure the SE announcement has effected prices some, I'm saying there is alot more going on than that.

IGE has been relatively short on supply of gil since near the end of January, this recent annoucement of SE just kicked the gil selling market after it was down. I'm sure once gil selling sites get gil back in stock prices will even out, or go back up a little. It happened last year, and it will probably happen again - until then everyone is panicing to sell everything they can.

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

I don't think there's any real way of confirming it, so believe it if you want or don't, it doesn't really matter, but I've heard that the items that were siezed were being placed on the AH by GMs at cheaper prices. It would make since. No sane person would panic so much about the the RMT action and sell things like a Peacock Charm for 5 mil less than the AH value. The AH is being flooded with items. If you know anything about economic theory, than you'd know that this type of thing won't last. Prices will go back up because the supply will go down. If the GMs are trying to manipulate the economy, they'll find out soon enough that the prices will go back up as soon as they stop putting items up for sale. The fact of the matter is, most people will try to all the gil they can for the rare items.

Don't make me get rational on you. It's full of economics and sense.

How is it possible for money that isn't being used(in RMT mules) that's now going effect prices? They will eventually be used, but until then they are not part of the equation.

Therefore, prices should not be droping because SE deleted gil that wasn't in circulation in the first place. (If a tree falls and no one hears it, does it make a sound?)

The only thing that's dropping prices is the, "Sky is falling" mentality aka-emotions, of people. (SE screamed fire in a building)

When "emotions" subside, then we'll see the results.

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

Uh, I didn't say anything about the RMT they banned, effecting the economy. I said they were dropping because IGE and sites like it are out of gil and have been out for a while, or the gil they have cost way more than normal - meaning a lot less people are buying gil and the people who rely on bought gil are running out of it.

Prices have been going down steadily since before the announcement, and after IGE had "We currently have no gil for this server" on pretty much every server. Of course, the massive decrease in prices has happened in the past day or two, so yes I'm sure the announcement has effected it - but I serously doubt people are so stupid to undercut SH or peacock or haubergeon by 3 or 4m because some gil sellers got banned (nevermind the fact that the main ones are still around). If IGE and such still had plenty of supply, prices wouldn't be dropping so dramatically.

Edit: I doubt SE actually care's that much about the economy, so then I doubt GMs would sell things on the AH for cheaper. If they cared about the economy why do they make things like Peacock Charm, Emperor Hairpin, Leaping Boots, etc actually harder to get by putting in the BC? They've done this with every item that has been monopolized by a gil seller, yet what always happens? The price on the item skyrockets past what it used to be, obviously they must know that it doesn't work, so why do they continue to do this? I appreciate the effort in getting gil sellers to stop camping it, but does it really change anything when gil sellers still camp the said item that is now rare/ex to sell?

Re: Prices dropping! Chaos in Jeuno!

Firstly, Smash and Kuu are both right:

-Lack of money in the economy.
-Sky-Is-Falling Mentallity.
-People trying to cash in while they can, responding to panic.

Just a quick correction on that, it's not gilsellers camping it, because it would make no sense being as how they cannot profit off it. There are only two types of ppl camping Valk Emp:

-Those that need it.
-Those that have Emperors Hairpin and would like to have Empress so that they can sell Emp.

Funny thing someone in my LS said when we were camping Ulli against like 3 other LSs.
Quote:
If you want to think about it this way, what's the difference between us and gilsellers? They profitin RL off their gil and we just hoard ours. . .
Taken out of whatever context it was created in, in the first place, I realized that a handful of gilsellers are not the ones controlling the market.

It is unlikely that the people who camp the NMs and sell the sky drops for RL cash have THAT big of an impact on the market alone. People, by nature, like profits for work, so we all price jack where we can. If you want to blame someone, blame HL Crafters, because they are the ones with the gil to burn, they are the ones who control the flow of items.

Are gilsellers the reason that Shihei was 20k a stack? Are gilsellers the reason that Sole Sushi is 100k a stack, NQ? Are gilsellers the reason that it costs more to properly feed and tool up your character, be it ammo or ninjutsu, than to equip it? Are gilsellers the reason that Silent Oils were 50k a stack?

It's all a trickle-down theory, people. Make the end result expensive, and the profits trickle down to all involved in the process. A Gilseller wont farm Slime Oils, or beehive chips, regular people do. Farmers profit off of increased cost of ingredients, crafters, to make a profit, have to raise prices.

Farmers are able to raise their prices because people will buy it because unlike a lot of items, base ingredients are needed. Just like the people that camp Guilds when they open and hoard all the ingredients for the next 8 hours, gilsellers arent the REASON that the economy is messed up.

It's just easier to point the finger at them. The economy, BG (Before gilsellers) was always unfair, it was just outta control AG (After Gilsellers).

While it was a bit unfair, it was balanced, because it wasnt easy to instantly get a certain amount of gil and buy something for a jacked up price, so if you wanted to price jack, you better be damned sure you were the only one selling the item, or if you were in cahoots with others selling similar items.

Personally, when I have no use for something, I undercut, because I want it sold. But that's just me. And this was my rant. I've never been rich in this game, nor have I been poor, but I know a lot about who sells what and who profits where.
