For those of you can't tell, it's one char from one server visiting the mog of another char on another server. I'm kind of worried about something like this, as what if they can trade with each other? I like Windower, but I think this is just going too far.

Opinions?

Perhaps you should upload the pictures to somewhere that doesnt make it blatantly obvious where the website is where you can get the app.

Well, obviously I can't make any statements for the windower team, but if past desires are any indication of future windower releases, I don't forsee the windower team releasing anything like that publicly. They take a very hard-line stance against hard core, blatent cheats being made publicly available (though images like this do back up my suspicions that windower team -could- do a lot more if they wanted to).

Seriously, I would be very, very, very, surprised to see a feature like that actually released into windower.

And I'd be very, very, worried to... Still, it should be noted that screemshots are consistant with the screenshots I've seen of Windower 3.3 as of yet unrleased, however MogLink is not a part of Windower itself, rather a plugin. One I seriously hope they don't release with Windower, etc. ><

Could it be that it is just an IM style plugin using the Final Fantasy interface? I know that the 'team' claim to have some pretty, and I quote, 'dangerous' code in Windower so they cant release their source, but it could just be something harnessing the interface rather than allowing two people to get into the same mog.

Anyway, I suppose time will tell.

Well, my last post was before I actually read up on the forums there. Some one suggested that it was all client-side. We already know that the windower system can disaply stuff client side without affecting server side. That's the whole point.

We also know that you can look at your friends list and see what server someone is on if they aren't actually in game on your server, and while I adon't have friends on other servers, I assume that if I added them via POL, and went into FFXI I would still see if they were online, and it would say they are on another server.

So there is obviously cross communication built in.

Probably an 'easy' task for the windower team to simply "draw" your friend in the moghouse on your computer. Since what they look like, etc., is in thier memmory. And what you look like is in your memmory. And where they players are is in both memmories, POOF. Just tell the game to draw them.

I'm sure its -way- more complicated than that, but its probably the easiest way to make it happen. I'm willing to bet that trading items etc., isn't going to happen. Theoreticly possible, I'm sure, but I'd put my money on the dev team not implimenting cross server trading if they even know how. I hope they wouldn't.

Guys.. someting I noticed... check the shadow of Azriel and that othe guy... one character has a shadow and the other one does not.... something is weird here!

it's all client side, nothing potentially cheating.

I think pooka hit it right here. It's just drawing your friend in your mog house. I don't believe he is actually there.

The shadow is indeed there, however the person does not have it so that shadows are detailed on other characters.

This would indeed be very bad. I think that it is possible for cross server actions, look at GMs. The actions of being able to 'communicate' with a person on another server is a very dangerous economic factor (worse than IGE etc) because each server has an economy set by player of that server.

What it may possibly be is a 'mirror' effect that you see, not the actual character... however I am unsure as to how far as the interaction limit that would exist.

As far as messing goes... it's PlayOnline that does it all by Player 'addresses', not FFXI directly.

This is a big threat imo, that is why if its actually ture it needs to be stopped

If something like this leads to people being able to access your Mog Safe one day, its best to nip it in the bud asap. Currently there may be no interaction but all it takes is someone with a bit more knowledge to warp it into something that it was not intended for. I just hope that all this conjecture never comes to fruition.
