How long to level up?

I am trying to get a good idea of the amount of time it would take to level up in this game. Since leveling can get tedious, I wanna know what to expect. Let's say... how long would it take to get to level 30 with the first job? How bout to get to level 50? Thanks.

it really depends on your playing style. The more you know about how to level fast where to go etc., then you'll level faster. First time around it'll most likly take you a while to level to 30 probably a good month to even get to late 20s. Just play at your own pace and you should be fine. Comparing to game like diablo2, diablo2 is VERY VERY VERY fast leveling game.

If you were pretty hard core and had lots of free time, you could probably pop 60 in 6 months.

do you think it will take a shorter amount of time to level up the low levels as they increase the level cap? Like, if the level cap becomes 255, do you think it will still take a month to get to the late 20's?

Yes. However, the more free time you have, the faster you can level. Right PiNG? ^^

yeah these are all very true points, but you guys left out the part where when you are high level you have to also find a good party to be in, if you find a good party then you will level up faster, if you find a bad party then you will not lvl up that fast at all

I am sure you will see some "dedicated" ( my name for peoplewho will play for 16 hours a day), be at lvl 35 within a month. The above average gamer will be at lvl 25 or so within a month.
They are right though, it all depends on the types of groups you have, and if you can find sweet hunting grounds.

Guess that's not so bad... But I feel as if Square may need to tweak their leveling and Gil earning methods a bit - seems a bit too tedious to me. But I havn't played and this is a MMORPG... Thx for the replies. =)

.... when i got one of the ff games i would play till 5:00am wake up at 7:00 and go to school and come back home and play till 5:00 am (i am 12)

you've got some problems...no way in hell could i do that, well anyhow im pretty damn sure that i will be a way above avg gamer when i be playing ffxi, i think i could top that 16 hour per day thing and maybe even surpass it LOL hehe, im a freaking game freak

Hmm, how much experience points would you need to get to Level 60 from...uh...50?

How much experience are you supposed to get daily in that duration? Kind of curious.

50-51 : 10000 exp
51-52 : 11000 exp
52-53 : 13000 exp
53-54 : 16000 exp
54-55 : 20000 exp
55-56 : 20000 exp
56-57 : 20000 exp
57-58 : 20000 exp
58-59 : 20000 exp
59-60 : 20000 exp

Every night I play around 4 hours (includes the time I wait for a PT to form), and I expect to get around 6000-7000 exp. (Keep in mind I play a bard and exp comes pretty easily

)
