Watching FFXI cutscenes w/o playing.

Is there any way to watch the cutscenes in FFXI without actually playing through all the missions and such? I am really interested in the story of the game, but don't have the time/patience/willpower to do all the things required to get there legitimatly.

Re: Watching FFXI cutscenes w/o playing.

can you for any other FF game?
just pop in your FFVII game disks w/o a game to load or cheat codes and watch all the cut scenes. it's so cool ^^

>.>

you can watch the cutscenes again after you watch them normally, but you have to go back to that zone, go to the Goblin's Footprint or Bard trade it gil or items and viola.

yes that means to see Shadow Lord Cutscense you saw in the Throne Room, you do have to go back to the Throne Room. lol

Re: Watching FFXI cutscenes w/o playing.

Unfortunately, there is not, as it requires a complete "hack" of the game files and that may alter the way the game behaves when it connects online to the server. If such behavior is detected, you may get caught and your account immediately terminated. If I were you, if the game has lost that much fun that you cannot fulfill the missions and earn the cutscenes and story that way, you should go pick up another game to play. All MMORPGs are time sinks and have rewards attached to them to compensate the players for their efforts. Cheating is out of the question and my question to you is why are you playing this game in the first place, knowing how difficult progression can be made since it is an MMO game afterall ...

At the very least, I'd like to see a cutscene again after i see it once. If only for the perfect musical timing.

Actually, you can with debug mode. You need a gameshark, though. I'm not sure about newer games, because I know that some games have them taken out for consumer release. FF7 & 8 both have it, as does Chrono Cross. Those are the only ones that come to mind.

About 11, I am not sure about the cutscenes themselves, but you can view all of the text in the game. You (of course) need PC version, not PS2. There should be a sticky here or maybe on KI somewhere about it. You could also read the spoiler thread.

I just wish I could watch the ZM4 cutscene again without having to fart about trying to get into Sacrificial Chamber again.

I think the program Fraps would work. Runs in the background, a keystroke starts and stops recording so you can record only what you want. It doesn't record sound, though.

I used it for World of Warcraft but I'm not sure how it runs with FFXI.

getting to debug mode requires additional hardware and/or codes and i said, "without cheat codes."

a game shark is known to be used for cheat codes, and unless available without a gameshark, it is still a "cheat"

since your response to FFVII cutscenes is "use a gameshark" when i said without codes you can't, you actually just proved my point.

Re: FF7 Movies

There is a JP program that extracts the CS (sometimes with music sometimes without) from the game CDs and turns them into avi files.

It works with 8 and 9 but the PS2 FFs use a vary hard encoding. I forget what the program is or how to use it but I remember I found the link somewhere on www.animetheme.com if it is stull up.

You change your graphics settings to 640x480 (ingame) and then run the fraps. Reason being is that (1) In a high rez mode, you'll quickly run out of disc space filming just 1 minute worth (2) Shrinking a movie file will make any small text unreadable and that would defeat the whole purpose of filming it in the first place (the cutscenes, afaik, do not feature any voice acting)

i also had FFVII for PC, the FMVs you could watch but the cutscenes w/ actively rendered charaters it just shows the area.

like the elevators w/ no characters, 2 characters being shot in thier arms, but the characters not there and stuff like that.

the FMVs did actually work with Media player or quick time.

They would if you dug around on the net and found the right tools. Takes forever I know, but I made a FF7 Tribute from all CS that I riped. I should post it sometime on the video fourms if I can figure out how to upload to the FFXIonline server.

Re: Watching FFXI cutscenes w/o playing.

FFX and X-2 as you arte all aware you can go to the theartre after you have seen the cut scene and buy movie spheres to watch them. I loved the cut scenes in FFX and FFx-2 and decided to record them (for personal use!) I have a PVR in my computer and can record at DVD quality, as I run my PS1 and PS2 through my PVR card, my favourite of course is the Thousand Words song routine from FFX-2. I can also record the scenes (as you watch them) for all the other FF games on my PS1, though as I've compelted them many times I sort of know where they start now.
