Re: Rdm giving juice instead of refresh >.>

I think alot of players just want to hang back and soak up the XP; asking (much less expecting) them to step up and take on more responsibility in the party is basically asking them to get out of their comfort zone, turn off the TV, keep both eyes on the game and actually earn their XP... this is just out of the question for some players as I've come to learn in my time playing.

The Paladin who doesn't want to tank is a great example... They want the "glory" of being this "Mighty Defender", but.. just don't ask them to mightily defend anyone but themselves.

I love playing Monk, but one thing that always bugged me is that I felt mostly useless in a party.. though I knew I was doing consistent and considerable damage, I felt like that's *all* I was doing.. I would spend fights trying to figure out what I could do to help out more...

Well, my first time through the jungles, I "discovered" the life-saving beauty of Shoulder Tackle.. Gobbies out there are bomb-happy and there have been so many times that having shoulder tackle has saved party members from dying. Funny thing is I'd have to explain this to people who thought I was just throwing off WSs when ever I had the TP.. 'til I told them to pay attention next time a goblin was preparing Bomb Toss and I did a ST.. They were pretty cool with it after that :-).

Backup-tanking with a Ninja in a Qufim party (camped in "Pugil Alley" - the narrow path across from Delkfutt's Tower) and the XP just rolled in... went so smoothly. Their blink would fade, I'd 'voke to give them time to recast.. they'd recast Utsusemi, 'voke, get hit 'til their blink disappeared... wash, rinse repeat..

A SATA partner with a thief in a Crawlers' Nest party... We had two thieves.. one on me, one on the main Tank... they would just trade off SATAs... Crawlers were going down like crazy.

There's many other situations where I've found my Monk as being anything but "just a damage dealer".. And I've since learned of a Monk's ability to pull using certain gear.. Really can't wait to try that (recently came back to the game, and starting from scratch). So.. I dunno.. for me, I *want* to be busier in a group.. it makes it that much more challenging and more enjoyable for me.

My two cents...

It sounds like all the half-assed RNG's that left it b/c of the patch are now leveling RDM. Lucky you.

Oh man, RDM handing out juice instead of refresh. That's hillarious

I mean I could get handing out juice and adding refresh on top of, that's expensive but seems like a handy as an addition to. Well unless I'm mistaken and you can't have juice and refresh going at the same time, don't really know because I'm not a RDM but still know one of their multiple benefits players look for is that refresh.

Re: Rdm giving juice instead of refresh >.>

Well, if juices and Refresh stacked it would be a good idea for those rich people out there ... nonetheless, that story cracked me up XD

As for telling people how to play their jobs right ... I kinda gave up on that. No matter how polite you put it, they will either not listen or just tell you to fuck off. Instead, I'll just let some subtle sarcastic comments now and then and at least provide my LS some laughter by telling them how much those people suck.

Really? From what I've noticed, they've now gone and leveled BLM. Which I've found more than a tad odd. I've heard a lot of RNGs say bad things about BLM, now that they were "updated" a lot of them ran to BLM.

Trying to teach them is kinda out of question. Every bad players I came across will just not listen and bitch back how they can play their game their way... Well, to be a good RDM you really have to have good attitude to begin with, since our job is to support other people's need more than ourselves.
I find that I have this problem too. If I'm in another party and I see a RDM in there I worry. Part of it is that I have very high standards for myself and other RDMs. And I've found a lot of RDMs that just don't live up. I always want a RDM, but I worry about the quality of the one coming. Especially since so many parties say how they've had problems getting even a halfway decent RDM. I would have thought that at Lv.60, they'd know what they're doing, but as Icemage and I have mentioned in the past, it just doesn't seem to work out that way.

To bad I can't level two jobs at the same time! That way I know the RDM will kick ass! lol

lol, equip switch macro what is this blasphemy you speak of

That is pretty bad 1 RDM that Refreshes the party via ..... Melon Juice! and 1 RDM that has no clue how to make a simple macro to change their equipment

Re: Rdm giving juice instead of refresh >.>

I only started using /equip macro only after hitting 51 rdm for elemental staffs o.O I didn't know what elemental staffs can do at first because I quit my first char before they came out. The staff macro was the beginning. And from that point on I started to learn to equip other things like AF body to get the bonus associate with the spells casted.

Actually, without reading on this forum I might not even be aware of such strategy at all. Researching is a vital part of this game now that I think about it. I have new players coming into my social LS all the time and some of them ask everything.... 1 guy got to level 30 and didn't know what signet is, and we have newbie guide on our forum which explains everything already too.

Re: Rdm giving juice instead of refresh >.>

I had a 2 RDM party recently that started our really well. Usually those parties work pretty well, even if the 2nd RDM is just run of the mill. Well after a while, the RDM asked if they could skill up since we had 2 RDMs, and things were going quite smoothly. Nobody objected so they got in there and started swinging away.

Usually I take care of the tank. I keep them hasted, I keep them Refreshed, and if they're in trouble, I dump some HP on their head. Well this second RDM took that job. For the first hour or so they kept a pretty good Refresh cycle, once they started meleeing they didn't do anything!

I stopped Refreshing and Hasting the DRK so I could Refresh and Haste the PLD. The RDM had to suddenly leave, we replaced with another mage and EXP gain went up sharply. They weren't a bad RDM until they decided to draw their sword. As if as soon as the sword was out, all of their other spells became unavailable.

Caps at Cooking Lv.60. Usually costs about 1.5k to make, often sell from 2.5k to 3.5k.
