Whenever I'd attempted to get on a certain server without a world pass I have to have two or three different names to use. It wont let you use the same name over and over, but after four or five minutes I'll let you use it again.

When I first started (FFXI US PC release) I was able to keep all my settings, including my user name every time.

I'm new to the game myself, but I have a 20 mnk/6 thf, having a blast so far on Shiva. but yeah, from level 1-9 its easier to get xp solo and more efficient so at level 10 head out to valkrum dunes and look for a party, always people out there lfp, thats when the fun begins, and if you're a native english speaker like me learn to use the translator! its your best friend.
by the way, what level are you Thegame? I could use some people to pt with on shiva, /tell me ingame, name's Lafaiel, ... party on people!

How do i get to valkrum dunes from Windurst? Looked at a map and it seems that it is a loooong ways away

you take east sarutabaruta, go north to taronghi canyon, then go to bubimihru peninsula or something like that, now this is tricky as the mobs there will kill you without blinking at level 10, go to mhuara, take the boat to selbina, and the dunes is the next area. the peninsula can be tough, if you can get someone to run you through it I recomend that, at level 20 I can still get killed easily there.
but the dunes pay off, and yes its a long run, but at 20 when you can get a chocobo, its all good, not to mention the last area before jeuno if you go from windhurst, you may die a few times before you get there. there is no way around it unless you get into a helpfull linkshell to make things easier, or you get lucky.
but once done, you'll love it.

wait until ur lv 10 then you will be able to party just solo until then
