I value ease of movement greatly. For actual combat I use keyboard shortcuts for almost everything. Running around, always in hand. For combat itself, it stays on the lap.

Not sure how I would handle being a bard, however.

To TheGrandMom: I wasn't initially aware it was a PS2 periphial. Even Third Party periphials for consoles have much higher standards than for PC. Having never actually used that myself, I won't dispute your endorsement of that particular item. On the whole, however, I still have a poor impression of Logitech's PC gamepad line.

I've been using keyboard since NA release, and I've come to like it just fine. I occasionally use the cheap controller I have if I'm doing mindless running around (like mining). Personally though, I feel the "set down the controller; go to the keyboard to type" thing is very stupid .. and with a pretty good chance I'm not going to get my fingers on the right keys quickly. Drives me nuts trying to type/communicate with people only to have that get in the way.

I don't see what people use the mouse for? Camera angles? Mouse is junk .. and I can't think of anything it is useful for. Camera can be moved with the up/down/left/right arrows (use shift+arrow if you are in a menu).

When you approach the game from a keyboard-centric standpoint, it's not difficult to play at all. (I won't claim controller isn't better, just that keyboard is 100% viable). For example, I almost *never* need to use the popup menu for items/magic/ect ... ctrl-I, ctrl-M, ctrl-E, ect bypasses all of that. (Only thing I *need* to get to from the menu is the treasure pool).

*Only* complaint that I have is that the macro bar is can lag a bit when being called up.

I find it a lot easir on the pad but all commands can not be controlled on just the pad. Therefore I am forced to go back to the keyboard to finish a command or simple input one. Its nice have all the controls right at ur fingers however it is also nice to have a greater esponse with the pad.

In the end I switch it up depending on the situation but normally I always am using a controller jsut for convinence.

Yeah, I never understood some ppl's hated of using the keyboard. I've been using it since day one and really havent had any troubles. Fingers on the numberpad, and thumb on the arrows for camera control. You still have to switch over to the keyboard to type, but my left hand is usually already set from playing rng and using ctrl+d all the time. It's pretty natural once you get used to it.
Thanks for the use of shift+arrows to move the camera once the menu is open, I never knew that

and my existing dual shock. Rumble support plus not having to buy a new controller is the shit. That logitech key/controller looks interesting though, reminds me of the one I had for PSO on gamecube

I found keyboard to be great with this game. I never got the hang of a controller and think it would be too much of a pain to switch back and forth for chat. However, using compact mode with keyboard, I find that steering through this game is very smooth with the keyboard and easy to get used to you, possibly better than other games i've played.

Ghostraven, its almost exactly the same. My old PSO board is packed away or I would compare the size and be able to give a more definate answer.

I just got a new keyboard today because my ex gf broke my old one while trying to clean it.

I got this one. It's not a gaming keyboard by any means, but I need it because it suits my needs (I have cerebral palsy and type one-handed). This thing feels great! It has issues, but i need it. The keys are so soft compared to my last one. In nerd terms, it reminds me of massaging a woman gently. ^^ lol. No jokes comparing my ex gf to a keyboard please. d:

It cost me $104 tho... ;;

I don't have full motor control. My right side is mostly affected but my left side is as well. I have a mild speech impediment too. No two people who have cerebral palsy are alike tho. It's kinda like a fingerprint. There are minor cases, severe cases, and moderate cases like mine. Like I can walk, but only short distances. Which brings us to...
