any sequel to ffxi planned?

Hi,
I realize that FFXIII is probably 5 years off, but has Square announced anything about whether it will be a MMORPG or if there is another final fantasy MMORPG planned? I am probably going to take a few years away from MMORPGs, and if I play a second one down the line I'd like it to be another final fantasy related game.

Yeah, FFXI-2. It's all-female and you run around in skimpy clothing making the world a better place through song and dance.

^^I have no clue about FFXIII but when FFXI starts to fall apart i think there would be another MMORPG in the works so that in less 6 months to a yearish they would be able to release it, and that game would take the next avalable FF#.

Square Enix is currently working on a third MMORPG project, but so far they've refused to confirm that it's another Final Fantasy MMO. When asked, FFXI's producer Hiromichi Tanaka said that he doesn't have much interest in creating a second Final Fantasy-based MMO at this point in time.

Expect to hear more about this third MMO by the time E3 2006 rolls around.

Well they are working on Fantasy earth wich is a stratigy MMORPG...graphics look like ass...But if they where to make another FFXI it will prolly still be called FFXI but have some name, like EQ is for PC and EQ online adventures is for PS2, something like that...

Don't know, but to me it seems FFXI still has a lot of life left in it. Not to mention the new blood to come in when Xbox 360 releases and the expansion for it that's suppose to be comming out sometime after Xbox 360's release.

you need your eyes checked, this game looks great, it is just that the style is diffrent

I believe FFXI will out live WoW. Until we have unlocked Far West/East/North/South, that alone is at least 2-4 years(and more) of expansion packs.
