Spring Forward, Fall Back, etc.

EDT stands for Eastern Daylight Time, which means clocks in eastern North America are currently adjusted 1 hour ahead of "normal".

EST stands for Eastern Standard Time, which is the cloick cycle used during the winter and spring when Daylight Savings Time is not in effect.

If you watch the FFXI update announcement closely, they do observe this distinction. During late fall, winter, and early spring updates, they are announced using PST (Pacific Standard Time). During late spring, summer, and early fall, they are announced as PDT (Pacific Daylight Time).

I'd just like it if they varied their maintenance times - as they stand they always seem to completely screw Euro players (even this short 3h maintenance covers 7-10pm, which is part of the peak time), while NA & JP players tend to be less affected.
