How to raise your NPC buddy

the NPCs level stays the same if you throw pearl away? so i can keep leveling my stupid galka and someday if it turns out that taru NPCs are way better i can just switch, no loss in NPC level?

I mean you get the pearl back from rendezvous point, from the same NPC.

If you abandon your NPC totally and get a new NPC, that I don't know yet.

I let mine for with me in Rolanberry on my 75 PLD. I just provoked and turned around and let him kill it for fun. He did Red Lotus Blade, Burning Blade a lot. After he got his EXP he took off and I went back to check his Armor out and appearently he's wearing Baron Armor... I think the full set it's hard to tell since he's Tarutaru.

I think I see why they made these 20 hours. As some pointed out, you can get your npc 5k+ exp in a few minutes of killing too weaks as a lvl 75. Thus, the 20 hour cool down prevents having lvl 75 buddys in a week. If exp gain and requirements match players, it will likely be months before we see lvl 70+ buddies. Hopefully the fight limit will be higher 60+, because doing only 15 fights at a time is very slow lvling.

SO wait... if we call them, drop the pearl, go to the rondevu point, and collect a new one its reset? Seems like a good way of getting twice the time out of our friends.

Anyways, Armor seems to either update depending on the mobs you kill, or the amount of times you sucessfully complete time with them.

I died with mine the first time around and her armor did not update, however the second time around after she left, she showd up in lizards gear. This is at level 10-11 warrior/white mage with her as 'Shield'

Perhaps the 15 kills is the amount it takes to upgrade them? We'll have to wait and see how much this developes. But thanks for the info Jei

Question... where can i find EP-DC for 74 out side dungeons?

edit - if we can really get a new pearl every day, i think ppl sure will start exploiting it and call npc twice. don't know what S-E's intension about this is in the long run... really...

You'll find DC-EM Goblins in Bibiki Bay and EP in Cape Terrigan at 74 I believe. Not sure how good they'd be for for farming, but the ones in Bibiki you can steal gold beastcoins from.

Jei, have you made attempts for Sky (outside) and outdoor CoP areas? I'm unable to verify any of the locations there. Also, CoP areas gain expirence based off a level cap, I wonder if that would apply to our Fellows as well? I cant summon my friend in Promivons, however, so that rules that Promivons are dungons and not just freaky fields.

My PC has problem with sky, to go there I need to use PS2. Kinda more trouble.

EDIT - I came back to meet her in Jeuno and now I can pick style for her. I only called her twice o.O

I can't wait till I can pick a style. Really, as a warrior my npc is kinda useless being a shield or an attacker ;-; (I have both of those down...). I wish she'd be a RDM :D so she could buff me, debuff the mob, and heal me too.

I know how you feel Jei. I went to lvl my npc today. I used the earring, engaged a mob, then hit it and... R0... 60%... 20%... DC. And I had just used the earring mind you. And I rarely dc (like once a month).

Extremely bad timing...

You can only spawn your NPC in areas you can cast Chocobo Mazurka.
