Mine finally finished, i was suprised i didnt DC for the installation part which occurs after the downloading part >.<, just hang in their dont give up LOL you could get lucky and be in the game within the next hour who knows. Good luck.

2 and a half hours now and everything is going smooth, no dc or nething since i started and im 40% i think im at the tail end of the d/lers so its back to normal. My mates been on for ages going zomg LL is rare/ex now wtf am I to camp lolz

It started checking for files for me .. got to 5% then got the 1160 error... I say that's Boogity!! whatever.. i wanted froot loops or fruity pebbles.. i'll go decide at the store while the server decides if it wants to let me one @.@;

Hi new here...

Um yea this patch is freakin' killing me!! I just signed back up today and come to find out I can't recover my old characters so thats a bummer and now the patch is acting like a annoying little trick.

Ugh Square needs to take lessons from SOE and do what they do to distribute their patches. Even though the support for EQ was LOUSY they still got you your patch and sent you on your way to complain in the support chat.

I connected early this morning at around 6am, and got to the part where it started downloading the patch. I went back to sleep, woke up around 2pm today...and it was still at 0% with only one file downloaded. May I ask what the fuck

Mine just stopped at 40%, rechecked files twice now and errors again. I think all those ppl who just said fuck it early are back and stealing teh bandwidth , so Im off to bed, hopefully things are better in the morning cause man I want to get to lv70.

LOL, I think the patchs for EQ were okay, but the maintaince was horrible ; ;

of course, there's a ffxi mod out there (don't want to say where), that will constantly force retries on the patch dl when it fails. how's that for rubbing salt in an open wound. the constant dropping and reconnecting from the mod will slow down the dl process even more. and if at least 100 people had it, that would equate to a lot of lost bandwidth. meaning more suffering for everyone else.

i agree with the OP. i can think of 10 ways that se could do to improve their update system. in fact, people here posted great ideas of what se could do to improve it while being able to satiate both ps2 and pc players. but, will they ever do it? probably not. simply because network infrastructure isn't a priority to them. if they can have 450,000 of the 500,000 total players connected to the game, 90% of the population is satisfied and will stay on the game. what about the remaining 50,000? they won't quit. even if they cancel their content ids, se will still charge them for an entire month's worth of play. se will still make money off of the 10% who can't connect. and of that 10%, very few of them will quit anyway (maybe .5% at most) for this reason and they will find a way to come back in the game. so network infrastructure? not so important as long as 90% of the population can connect and 10% can't.

ironically, WoW somehow screwed up the greatest p2p app of all time. i usually have several bts going when i dl a WoW pacth. while those are going full bore, my WoW dl crawls along at a snails pace. in fact, it crawls along at a snails pace when i have no bts open. wtg blizzard for screwing up what's inherently a good thing.

Has any1 gotten stuck at a specific part of the download? after finnaly making some progress in the dowloading part, it gets stuck at 40% complete and 38% of 32.dat .... all it would do for a couple hours is increase time until complete so i decided to cancel and wait till tomorrow. just wondering if this has happened to anyone else ?

Update has an automatic resume. If you're not getting resumed you got some messed up files in there.

Took me what 3 DCs of downloading. Nothing really hard. first time I got aobut 500 files, then I got 200ish more before another DC. Third time I'm done.

And now S-E says someone is DDoSing at the same time ???

Seems to be more human bickering and causing trouble, then S-E's system problem.

I've had worse with updates.

And as I said in another thread, bit torrent won't help. Bit torrent was ment for large files while maintaining decent bandwith..not this 1k files that needs to be checked and installed.
