SE has GOT to evolve their FFXI update system!

I don't know what you mean. Its only taking 4+ hours to download a 43MB patch.

Sitting through the file scanning was great, especially when you then get disconnected when it tried to actually download them and then you have to scan them again next time you try. You know, just incase there was another patch in that 30 seconds.

I like how WoW implemented a BitTorrent style system to download their patch.

Ack, I prefer FFXI's system to that. I always get my patches for it from File Planet, it goes much faster.

Its taking 4 hours to download maybe if you have gotten through the other processes first, some who were trying to get in earlier much earlier got disconnected at a certain percentage of the download for FFXI and have to redo it again taking more hours and some more hours again if they reach the download section, they may not even have anymore time to play and their goes some more time out of their schedule to play FFXI that they have paid for already. I wouldn't complain if FFXI was free but its not, just as Aeolus stated its called customer relations and we are moaning because SE are s*** at it.

Some of you probably are ok with the way Square handles this situation thats fine, but I am not gona follow that crowd Id rather follow what i believe is right and thats that Square should really take more consideration onto these occurences. Ill keep posting complaints expressing my opinions and getting gil for it weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

How many people are actually going to quit though because they had to wait an extra day? No one; if the person wants to play so bad that they're fretting over a day they sure as hell are not going to quit. Why you ask? Because they obviously want to freakin' play. SE knows this, and it would cost them more to upgrade their download system. So why bother?

And whoever said go outside had a good point. I don't give a damn that you're paying and you want your "bang for the buck." All things in moderation, and if you can't take an extra day (or maybe a week because these are your only days to play), maybe you should re-evaluate how you view this game.

I can go outside anytime I want to. That is completely not the point. I should be able to instantly download this right now because I'm paying for a service, a service they're not delivering and its ridicoulous we have to pay for it. I want to play I'm not going to quit, but if ppl don't moan SE wont even get the point that one day we are going to break and then we will quit.

If you want instant downloads, stop complaining about the game so SE doesn't put out any more patches, then you won't have to worry about having to download anything. All 500,000 people want their download and we want it now, but let's be realistic. Even with a new implemented system, it'd still take awhile (unless you were one of the first few people in line) to get the patch. The only difference: you wouldn't have to hit a retry button; you'd just be sitting there instead.

It's just two days, come on. Let's say you have two mules and your main character, that's $14.95... For two days, your'e out ~$1 total. Stop spazzing; yes, every major update we have to wait, but it's rarely two days. It's usually a third of a day to half a day, tops.

Thats fine thats your opinion that you could care less, but dont force your opinion onto others, someday square will read all those e-mails and just maybe they will listen oh well worth a try, why bother? because I refuse to give up. Ill re-evaluate how i view this game when i feel like it, currently the thing i feel like right now is trying to get Square-Enix to get better ways to cope with the constant problems that have easy remedies.

I must imagine there are almost 1,000,000 people and about 70% of them are actively trying to get access to the update. Asian, Australians, North American and European players are the bulk of that group ... so, still saying SE's update system is good? *laugh*

I never once said I don't care, hell. I really wanted to play FFXI today, but obviously I cannot right now. I just know there are other things to do than sit around and complain about something that has never happened before, as far as I can recall atleast. And the day my opinions are forced on anyone is the day PaiPai stops liking FFXI, and that will be one cold day in hell. It's funny that you express your ideas that the system is wrong and it's okay, but I express my opinion that you're overreacting and I'm forcing my opinions on people. lol

Yes your probably right, more players than my estimation based on old facts. S-E should evolve with the times, if there is more players then by all means they should have seriously upgraded whatever causes the problems we face :\

I had 7 minutes left, and then it DC me again >.<

Now its re-doing the "preparing update" but once i get to dl section again its gona suck cause its gona be another hour to download it if it doesnt DC again and I just will rinse and repeat

Let me set the scene here. My ps2 is broken, I have read "all" the books in my house, some 4-5times, its bucketing down outside, the roads are almost flooding, nothing to do in town because theres about 4shops then its a 100mile drive to the city, not worth going, its too late to arrange nething with mates, all I really have to do is surf, watch TV, movies and cook some food. I'm doing all that while bitching about SE's system. Im not however doing something else and bitching about ppl bitching cause yoou seem to be able to find something else to do? so why you bitching?

Apparently whatever you downloaded IS saved somewhere on your HDD. Coool!! 45 seconds to go (im playing on PS2). Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee so not giving up really does work, to all those who did give up when they were canceled at download process im pretty sure if you reboot the POL you will lose those temporary files downloaded and it wont speed up like it did on mine LOL.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we were paying for the "maintaince" of the game and not support...perhaps those go hand in hand I don't know much about it so that's why I'm asking ^^
