Windower Bans

So on Midgard someone was banned for using the new windower. Talked about it in pt chat and someone reported him. Apparently 4 day ban from that. Anyone else get the boot?

Wow, you got people reporting others for using a windower? That's a little "deuchbag-ish" if you follow me. I mean it's not really "cheating" in a sense or anything, sheesh.

Well the new windower is kind of cheating. It is so easy to write scripts with it now.

wow who ever reported your friend is a jack-ass, windower is a need for peopel that browse FFXI websites while playing for info and stuff, and SE temp banning someoen for useing it is retarded, SE needs to bann the people that need banning........

I still don't see what the problem is. If SE doesn't want you to use it, don't. If you feel it ruins your gameplay to alter the game's client so it fits your needs, go away. I could personally care less about those that threaten "I'm going to quit 'cause I can't do window mode!"

If you see screenshots of the chat log... This is ********in cruel. 96 hour ban for using a windower? Wtf... I dont even get that long a sentence for holding HNMs. Hell, MPKing doesnt even get you that much time. And I seriously dislike how this GM is acting towards the dude.. Like he caught em botting... It's sad that SE is cracking down on WINDOWERS (Something that should have been implemented in the game from the beginning seeing as it's being played on WINDOWS which allows multitasking) when there are other more severe things being done in the game.

Edit: Huh? Auto-Warning for cursing... Thats a new one on these forums...

I did warn that using Windower or any 3rd party program was a big risk. I've alread even read the Windower has proven to support the more destructive 3rd party programs, as new news to me if the Windower itself makes scripting easier that is more reason to ban those specific windowers.

There is a huge difference when a windower is designed so you can just surf the internet and when it's integrated with methods for you to basically "cheat" the game via scripts and other automations. Now I personally have no intrest to use a windower, but I won't have much a grudge against someone using a windower that specifically designed to only window FFXI.

It becomes a completly different story if the windower is allowing them to make bots and such.

Yes, you might want to look at Ping's post of the New Features on the website. It has double post merging a filter program that will warn for curse words, and many other nice features.

Also much of it still being worked on, many nice things to come I think.

As far as I know about 3.2, you can't script all that well with it for botting and whatnot. The big thing w/ 3.2 is it's plugin interface which will allow things like a minimap to be viewed while still being able to run, Airship times, TP of party members, the mobs % health left, and also ability counters (like recast, but always shown on the screen so you don't have to type /recast)

From what i've seen the new windower has only added things like timers and stuff. I don't think it has the ability to create complicated bots or anything. Just don't talk about it out in the open. Oh well, as longs as I can surf the web, read mangs, or watch anime while I'm playing, I'll be happy.

Timers, blood pact or otherwise should be shown on screen at all times. I think it's ridiculous for not showing it, OR it's a sick ploy to push for that Vana'diel clock that you purchase and pressing it for a button so that you know when your Blood Pact timer is up, or other Job ability timers. But that's just my conspiracy theory >_>.

On a side note, Seeing a screen shot of one of my friend using the new Windower looks pretty sweet, pointed out where the blood pact timer is, top right hand corner. Looks like a sweet deal for Summoners.
