So I try to start up fraps and then FFXI, but as soon as I hit play and the screen goes black, it crashes to my desktop.
The only thing I can think of that I've changed since when I used it a few months ago is that I updated my drivers (I use omega drivers and updated to their latest ATI version).
I've tried reinstalling the drivers but it doesn't seem to help. Perhaps I have to downgrade my drivers to get FFXI to run while fraps is up? If so, does anyone know where I can find archived versions of omega drivers (as I'm not entirely sure if switching back to ATI drivers is very easily doable.)
Thanks and sorry for the bother. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-06-2005, 04:40 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Location: Mountain Home AFB, ID Posts: 349 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,318 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,318 Donate | What button are you using to capture? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-06-2005, 10:46 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 407 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 2 Thanked 3x in 3 Posts Gil: 1,632 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,632 Donate | Eh.. f9. But see, it's crashing as soon as the game starts up.
I can capture video of WoW, but not FFXI. I'm still thinking it's the driver, but I'm open to suggestions. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-06-2005, 02:12 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Location: Mountain Home AFB, ID Posts: 349 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,318 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,318 Donate | I would say, update to the latest drivers, I have an NVIDIA 6800 128MB Running on latest drivers, and I dont have any problems recording. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-06-2005, 04:25 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 127 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,611 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,611 Donate | ATI and Nvidia drivers are two completly diffrent things... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-06-2005, 04:49 PM | #6 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 29,317 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 29,317 Donate | my fraps works fine. But I also am using Nvidia. Have you cleaned up your fulled drive yet? There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

The problem was created when I updated my drivers to the latest omega set (based on the latest ATI set).
I've got a few gigs left on my main drive, but I'm not even recording to my drive- the problem starts when Fraps is running, not even while I'm recording. And besides that, the save directory is a folder in my new drive with lots of space.

I downgraded my omega drivers to catalyst 4.12 and it works all of a sudden- I recorded the CoP intro cutscene. Flawless.
Thought I'd share. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
