| Junior Member | Has anyone tried the PC version on a large TV? *Simply amazing*
I thought running the PC version at 1600x1200 and background at 2048x2048 looked good ![]() I used to use the PS2 version as well as the PC version. One reason simply was because sometimes it was more comfortable to play on a larger screen and on a more comforable couch ![]() I used the PC version on my 36in TV last night and was amazed at how good it looked! I am using component (RGB) and optical cables. I am also using a logitech netplay controller on my PC. My TV isnt a HDTV, but it does have component hookups. I also have all video setttings set as high as possible with my video card 3D settings maxed out. It looked gorgeous even at 640x480. I cant even imagine what it would look like on a nicer widescreen HDTV. So, if anyone hasnt tried this and can. Do it now!! Its worth it. The PS2 version look very bad now compared to this setup. The PS2 to put it simply looks horrid now. Whats is also good, is you can switch between the monitor and TV at the click of your mouse. |

I've done it on my TV. It is nice even if you up the resolution just a little over what the TV standard is. Just doing the resolution at 1024X1024 on the TV is not good -.- The graphics is nice but damn the text is so small it looks more like it's morse code instead of actual letters. EDIT: Other then the problem with reading text at that high a resolution is it very nice. When I reduced it though, guess it's just something my setup, the closer it's resolution got to the TV standard the more it started to look identical to my PS2 version so I didn't see a reason to keep my setup like that I just stuck with the PS2. Though with how Jeuno is and how on the PS2 it totally goofs up what I try to type I probably would consider switching that setup back so I can type without that break occuring in it  |

My Mood: | I play FFXl on my PC, and my monitor has a 19" screen, (nearly flat too, but still a regular monitor) which is fairly big and looks quite cool for playing FFXl. Comparing the size of my monitor to my T.V. I'd say that they are both nearly the same size too. (T.V. Screen might just be a wider in length though) I've heard that Widescreen T.V.s are very popluar these days, so if anyone has one of them, and wanted to hook their game(s) up to it, then your laughing. (so to speak) I used to enjoy playing other games on the N64, (before Nintendo Gamecube came out, which I might be hoping to get one day, due a certain favourite game --ZELDA-- has made a name for itself with Nintendo for quite a while) and always had to hook that up to my T.V. Though since I've never owned a PS2, I don't really have a clue what is normally used to see your games on. Would be interesting to know though. Hmm.... wouldn't be a PC monitor by any chance, would it? |

I've played FFXI PC on my widescreen HDTV and it looked simply fabulous. There are a lot of other, newer PC games that also look unbelievable when played on a TV, especially Half Life 2.

I dont understand. What is wrong with the text in game? Mine looks absolutely stunning. It is alot better than the text on the PS2 version. Its clear as day for me. Possibly you are doing something wrong, or you just have a cheap TV I hate to say. ![]() I am using a ATI X800XT PE if that matters any, but it shouldn't. Any solid card should work good as long as it is a 9700 Pro, 9800Pro or above. Most newer ATI cards can also use component cables since it is a seperate cable that plugs in using a short adapter. Mine just so happen to come with a component adapter. I can't say much for geforce cards, but they should be the same I would imagine. The normal windows desktop looks horrid but in game they look stunning. I cant figure out why this is since they are both at the same resolution. This doesnt really matter because in game is what counts. |

That's whats cool about having the ps2 version of FFXI I get to play it all the time on a 32" screen. And the text looks quite fine to me.. I get sick too from playing first person shooter, so I keep my character at a 3rd person view..
