Modelviewer, edit Dat, ChangeTex, etc.

Now, I've seen many topics and posts about using the model viewer and swapping DAT files. So far, I haven't really come across anyone who personally exports, edits, and imports their DAT files. I know many sites have these programs for download, and there is much information about it, generally speaking, out there. But what I am looking to edit is more specific, should be easy, but is not working for me. Has anyone had any experience using ModelViewer / GraphicConverter3 / ChangeTex, and, might you be able to help me?

For example, I have used the ModelViewer to export a set to MQO, which then saves a MQO file and 5 BMP images into the desired folder. I then use Photoshop to edit them simply, and save them. Now I use GraphicConverter3 to change the BMP files to DDS. I then use ChangeTex to pack the DDS files back into the original DAT in the FFXI folder. When I use ModelViewer to look at the newly imported work, it is certainly not what I had done. Here are visuals:

This one is the BMP after I have edited it. Looks simple enough and like it should work.

This is what I see in ModelViewer.

I always keep the exported MQO and DDS/BMP files in the same folder, I always use GraphicConverter3 to change the BMP files into S3TC > DXT3 type, as I have read on the internet. Also, when I use ChangeTex to put the new DDS files back into the original DAT, only the first two out of the five work. The remaining three trigger an error that causes the program to shut down.

Might anyone have anything helpful in response?

If you have PS you don't need graphicsconvertor. Open the DAT file in changetex (dont export anything from viewer... MQ is only for model edits, not texture) and there should only be 1 listing. Export it to a DDS file, edit in photoshop, save it as DXT3 DDS, import with changetex, and it should work.

All right, thanks for the help. I seem to have found the problem, somehow. I'm on my way to satisfaction.
