That sucks, is there or do you think theyll implement a way to gain extra advanced points through quests or something so that someday you might have all at 100?

No, and no.

The inability to achieve 100 skill in all crafts is a balance check to create interdependance between players, and to balance HQ rates on certain items. If you want 100 in a second skill, you're going to need a mule, and to skill all the way with it.

They're in the new items list here http://ffxi.somepage.com/news/58 if nowhere else.
At the top of the list more or less, the Rare/EX weapons recieved from BCNMs w/latents, of course. Usable in the 70s, and gotten from Kindred Seal battles (uncapped).

Ok, some info.

Last night in exp. PT in Shrine of Ru'Avitu (sp?)

Coffinmaker - DMG 27 Latent: DMG 40

Hellfire - DMG 41 rng atk +15 or so

Regular shots went as expected. around 120/shot w/ coffinmaker, 150+ w/ hellfire.

One theory is that upon WS use, latent is activated.

Coffinmaker Slug Shot - 730~

Hellfire Slug Shot - 950+~

Conclusion - The lvl 72 rare/ex bcnm weapons are NOT latent activated by WS.

This was tested on Decorative Weapons. Same Mob, same bullets (silver) same other equipment.

So now the next question is...

Do 200 Weaponskills with the Coffinmaker and repeat your test.

See if doing Weaponskills has somehow "activated" the latent.

Did anyone ever try using it with low HP and TP under 100% yet? There are some Latent Effects that are activated that way, no reason why this would be different if you want to test activating latent effect in conjunction to ways other latent effects activate already.

If you are going to test that you should test all known ways to activate or remove a latent effect.

Kill set number of mobs
Have a certain percent of health
Be in an area like a BCNM
Have the right subjob
etc...

Hell considering it's name you might just have kill a set number of monsters with a WS being the last hit, similar to what's required when getting the 100 kills with the Deathbringer and Chaosbringer (With those swords you couldn't have last hit be a WS it wouldn't count it then).

I took some time to browse some JP databases and blogs, and I managed to come up with these two sites:

http://yoshidajr.seesaa.net/ - a JP blog with someone with the Destroyers (H2H latent weapon)

and This site (really long address)

With Grendel's translation help, it seems the weapon's latents are taken off after 500 points of WS', in the same fashion as the trial weapons.

One rumor on top of that I've been unable to confirm is that after 500 more points, it reverts back to the original form.

he has 100 wood on his main, and a taru mule with 100 gold.

The latene comes off after 500 WS points, a MNK in my LS did this and the destoryers DESTORY once you take the latent off. I'm not sure if it was 500 WS, or just 500 WS points like the trial weapons. But after you do an ass load of WS, they becaome very good.

I've started a slow process of attempting to remove the latent off the Heart Snatcher.. we'll see how it goes. It might be worth checking in at the NPC that gives the WS quest for that specific weapon along the way.. maybe they would shed some light on what to do?

all of the new latent weapons can be permanently activated by doing weapon skills with them a certain amount of times. I do not remember how many you need but this seems to be true for all of them. Once you have this done the latent will remain completely. Those rare/ex knuckles are now the best knuckles pretty much :.

btw how did this thread turn into a thread about synthesis...

Do you know if the desciption changes after the latent is off? Or is there any other way to know? With the trial weapons, its easy just to look at the elemental resistance.
