My Mood: | Which City Would Be Most Appropriate For My Character? Hi. Could anyone help me work out which parts of FFXl I should be in, and at which levels e.t.c. I have had maybe a few people explain this in my posts before, but I can't remember what they said. (I shall try using the Search feature too, just incase anyone hapens to mention it) Okay, so as you can tell, my character is now at lvl 11, but at the moment I am travelling round Windurst. Is there anywhere else I should be at this stage, and also, please could someone/anyone explain to me why this happens? i.e - I don't really understand why you have to move round to different areas at different levels, when you could just choose to stay in whichever city you like to be in. I know that there ARE certain areas with creatures which are WAY too difficult for my chracter to fight with at the moment, and the only ones I can fight are them which say are "easy" or I can only just about fight those which say they are a "challenge" I would appreciate any help here. Thanks. |

At level 11, you could go to Tahrongi Canyon, form a small party, and beat on dhalmels, crawlers and such. Or Maze of Shakrami, with a 6 ppl party, and beat on worms for better exp(beware of the ghoul room). Giddeus is also good exp, and good training for avoiding sound-aggro(worms) and sight-aggro(yagudo). =3 The reason why you have to move around the area is that, you have to find monsters above easy prey to get exp. I guess SE did that to spread out the population, and high lvls wont go back to beat Tiny Mandragora for fun... At lvl 14 or 15(or earlier?), you can move to buburimu pennisula, but since no one dare to level there usually, you might have to run to Mhaura(I hope you have map for bubu), and get to the over populated but everyone must go Valkurm Dunes, til you are lvl 18, do subjob quest, get subjob lvl etc, then get to 20 there, and get chocobo =D Hope I didn't confuse you more ^^ |

That color is not good... very hard to read. Anyway, Windurst is a starting point. Think of it as your "home". Adventuring requires exploration, and will lead you far from home. It's your choice as to when and why to venture to other cities, but for now, you should just be trying to level up and get familiar with the game. At level 11, Shakrami Maze is a good place to go with a party fighting worms. You could also go to Valkurm Dunes, although getting there will be an adventure in itself. No one is saying you have to go here or there, but the monsters around windurst are weak, and at level 11, they wont offer you much experience. Some will still be decent challenge, but not many. EVENTUALLY you have to move on to see the rest of the game. That being said, if you can get a party around windurst, you can level to 20 within 2 zones of saruta. There seems to be a polular "road" in which people generally take when leveling, and its by no means written in stone, but unfortunately there are more sheep than shepards so to speak, so no one seems to have any creativity in choosing level spots. Hope this helped.

I strongly suggest, being that you are a White Mage, that you set off for Valkurm Dunes. As the other two have said before, venture out to Mhuara <<spelled right?)) from Sarutabaruta, then Tahrongi Canyon, to Buburimu Peninsula, and with the help of maps ((bought back in Windurst)) you'll find yourself in Mhuara. Take their boat to Selbina, and once you leave Selbina, you will be in Valkurm Dunes. If you've never been in a party, you're going to have to start. Depending on the party, the experience can be pretty good. Alright, from levels 10-14 you should battle Rock Lizards and around 14, possibly the Goblins around there. They can be a handful, and keep in mind, I'm speaking the area where the Lizards are. From there, 15-17 you can battle Crabs at the two beaches Valkurm has to offer. The party may suggest fighting Damselflies which may be a good idea. From there to about 18, you may want to go to Goblins around any area, I suggest the Northwestern Areas of Valkurm. after that, most monsters there start to give dimming EXP.

My Mood: | Hi. Thanks for your replies. They are mosthelpful. ![]() ~Gman~.... I used to use Lime Green and eventually had someone tell me in their post that the color was too bright, and it hurt their eyes. Now I have you telling me that you cannot read it. (probably not bright enough or some such) Geez! Which colour CAN I use without anyone making a light hearted comment on it? I actually use "Burning Circle" as my Style Set, so it's like a light colour on a Grey background, which makes it quite clear for me to see. I'll bet you probably use a different Style Set, which is maybe why you cannot see it very clearly. ~Chocobo Mazurka~....... Are you saying I should battle Rock Lizards at level 11? I have ventured past them already, and on checking them they always say that they are very tough. I feel I would not be able to battle any creatures which are very tough, (and stronger than that, though obviously) as they would just knock me flat in a manner of seconds, so I have so far been avoiding any confrontations with any, like the plague. As I have already said though, I can only just about battle those which say they are a "decent challenge" and anything which says they are an "even match" would also knock me flat too quickly. I have been taking battles with those around Sarutabaruta, and some around Tahrongi Canyon, ("easy" status) cause I know I can always kill them without being killed myself. I suppose if I was in a group, it would probably work out like you said, but so far, right from level 1, I have been soloing, so that's why I have planned things a bit differently. I seem to find it quite difficult gathering a group, as I feel too shy to go up and talk to anyone. If anyone was to come up and break the ice with me first, then that would make things easier on me. There IS however, one player who I have recently met online/ingame who I have conversed with a few times already, who is also on the same server as me, but surprsingly enough, they also live somewhere near me too, (which is a pleasant surprise) but they are at a much higher level than me, (so they have been playing for much longer) and even though they are already in a LS, I probably wouldn't be very good as support, so again, I may find it quite difficult to find a group or LS by myself. |

hello again. at lvl 11 its time to learn to party. heres the deal all you will have to do is bring up your menu profile, equipment.etc, that list. you will see one that says party, click it, then click seek party. within seconds you will be besieged with requests for your whm services. you might want to try and get to selbina first or not. but believe me when a whm seeks a party they will get invited quickly. as you gain experience you will learn more about partys and what makes good or bad partys and who. you are at the point where soloing is near impossible except for 12 to 50 exp at a time. partys depending on efficiency should get you between 100 to 200 exp per kill. better partys mean better and faster experience. 1 important thing you should know about partys everyone should be near the same lvl. example your lvl 11 all in that party should be lvl 11 for max efficiency, but thats very often not possible some may be lvl 12 becuase they just gained a lvl or some may be lvl 10 because thats all that was available. party with lvls 10 to 12 range is ok, or 11 to 13 but best if only 1 lvl difference. its best if tanks and damage dealers are higher lvls and mages can be lower lvls. dont be afraid to party. its the only way your going to advance from here on out. with each level solo becomes even more difficult and pointless. only beastmaster job can solo effieciently. good luck and have fun |

Being new to parties to be afraid to ask other members in the party for advice. Your job is pretty straight forward though, keep the other members healthy. You should have Cure II now but keep it for when health is getting very low for the time being, Cure I should be the main cure spell for a little while, until you can get the 90HP cured from a Cure II, Cure I will be more MP efficient aswell and it'll generate less Enmity for you helping the tank to hold then monsters attention and keeping it away from you. As you level monsters will cause more damage and you'll find Cure II becomes the main Cure spell then later the higher spells. As well as curing you're going to be the one responsable for statuses aswell so make sure your magic is up to date and don't forget Protectra and Shellra, they're party based spells that will effect everyone in the party together. | |

I'm sorry if i didn't clarify that. I was suggesting that you fight hill lizards in the dunes, but you must find a party, as the others have said. I'm very sorry for the confusion ^^

Mm... Hill lizard can be good, but aren't they situated after the cave of sandbats(if you go from Selbina)? I have never lvled there... Sarutabaruta(lv9-10) -> Giddeus/Tahrongi Canyon(lv12-13) -> Maze of Shakrami(15-16) -> Buburimu Pennisula(18-20) If it was her 1st time, it might be hard for her to run through the goblin hell, then the (I think) night time sandbats mob? ![]() I just prefer finding closer area for easier access instead of going by the invisible rulebook ![]() Buburimu is actually doable if people would look for party there.... |

My Mood: | Hey again guys. ![]() I meant to post this yesterday, but I have been a bit busy. Anyhow, I'm very greatful for the number of replies I have here. All very helpful too. Thanks a lot everyone! ![]() This evening, I have just come back from..... where, might you ask?..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Valkrum Dunes! I finally managed to get into what hunderds of other players do best in FFXl. There was certainly a lot going on too. It was quite difficult to follow others, and trying to keep up with what was happening around me, trying to heal everyone e.t.c. Everything just got quite confusing too, and I only just about managed to keep up. Just one thing about the area in and around the dunes though....... It's quite awkward how there are no AHs nearby, and having to travel all the way back to the main city (Windurst) to collect my next batch of goods I have put up for sale. How do you expect me to go out and fight in the dunes, when I'm still keen on collecting items, and crystals from mobs e.t.c. to sell at the AH, and worrying that it's going to take me a while to get back there each time? (hence, a lot of tooing and frowing) I find it somewhat annoying to be honest. I think they should have put an AH in Selbina, unless there was one at Mhaura, but I didn't really give myself much of a chance to check that out, as I was in a bit of a hurry to get to the dunes at the time. I think I'm doing okay with my gil at the moment though, so I have gained just over 54,691 over the past few weeks, so I'm still hoping to rake it all in. |

My Mood: | Just another qusetion to ask. What are "Tanks?" (sorry, just another newbie question probably) |

Tanks are players whose job it is to keep the monster attacking them and no one else. Tank jobs primarily include PLD, NIN and WAR, but at lower levels MNK and SAM can do the job too. Regarding heading back and forth all the time, you don't have to head back to Windurst each time. It's probably quicker to head over to San d'Oria and sell your stuff at the AH there. You can buy scrolls for the next few levels while you're there too. Of course you won't be able to do any Windurst missions while you're on Quon continent but they can wait until you hit 18 or 19 and move to Jeuno. Once you get your chocobo licence at 20, you'll be able to head to Windurst whenever you want without too much bother. If it *really* bothers you that much, and you're a very careful person, then you could set up your homepoint in Windurst, and when you're done in the dunes simply do a ghetto warp (or Warp 3, basically means killing yourself and going to homepoint) to get back to Windurst. Of course, this plan means you can't die at all while in the dunes, and as we all know, avoiding death in the dunes is like expecting a horse to pick up a pair of maracas and dance a fandango. Of course, as has been stated, you're by no means bound to party in the dunes. Buburimu and Shakhrami are viable alternatives. You'll just find a party in the dunes 100x faster. |

Hmm... interesting comparison.. lol Btw: I would strongly suggest you get used to the other 2 nations and do some of their quests during the time you are coming back and forth from Valkrum Dunes. You need the fame for one thing, and its a nice change of scene. (You need the fame for some teleport quests and some scroll quests, so its nice to do some of the stuff now and enjoy the game some)

its awesome to see a noob actually making some gil, without standing in town begging. your best bet is follow someone to sandoria. it will be easier to get back and forth from there and the dunes. no boat ride. you will be able to get a free renta-a-room there. moogle will be waiting there for you. also alot of new things to see and do. sandoria is full of quests and alot of people. there are several guilds there and new shops. while you are partying in the dunes you will be needing a few items from that area real soon. just so you know. 1. crab apron (drops from clippers) 2. dhamsel fly worm (from dhamsel flys) 3 magicked skull, if you get a chance to get 1 of these take it. magicked skulls are really hard to come by, and youll need one by lvl 18. these 3 items are for the sub job quest that you get in selbina. |
